all stereo-types but sadly all exist, have seen every one of them with my own two. i love them all! if they didn't exist life would be boring, i don't think i find anything funnier than a wannabe rapper.

in the future i would most certainly be looking to work with other producers, but for about six months from now i am strictly working with one producer (i don't make my beats, i'm far too wack at the moment!) on my promotional CD and albulm. after that or during the production of the albulm (after the promotional one which is nearly done - just needs mastering really which is proving tremendously expensive for us) i'll be doing a solo project with straight up lyrics no bull shit and no frills (in terms of mastering the lyrics).

this will be the time when i'll be using my beats, your beats, and whoever elses wants some boom bap. but for now our promo (and albulm is unfortunately) a little commercial, (but also fortunately) a little ghetto.

If the rapper is DOPE write up an agreement that has him signing half his life away, if he is lame charge him...try to avoid free at all costs.


I use the beats a lot of times as bait to get guys to buy studio time. 10-20 hours pre-purchased will come with X amount of beats, exclusive usage no ownership.

To make money in this you have to hustle.

Another thing to keep in mind. MANY producers will quite. Its a fact. A good amount of these rappers buy gear and never get to use it. Offer the option of a barter....beats for the equipment they aren't using.

Unfortunately times aren't what they used to be. Production isn't as valuable as it used to be. There's too many "producers", too many rappers and no market. You have to be wise in how you get your bread.

The only people in this industry still making money are the people that make the gear!

yeah and I think we can all agree that even those quality standards have gone down as well.

Way I see it: if kid wants to purchase a basketball to be the next Jordan he's not going to turn up at a store and be like "why not free? I'm not rich n famous yet" is he!?
