it doesnt pull away from anything! you can still use the mpc exactly like you do already and not touch any of the new features.
i for one use the mpc live and being able to control volumes of different tracks from a midi controller is something that ive wanted to do for years. hopefully filters and pitch and mod control will come too.
imagine if akai had that attititde when roger linn came along " sorry but your taking away from what drum machine's all about.. why do you need to seqeunce other midi instruments and sample sounds, preset sounds and internal sequencing is all you need"

He is pulling away from what the MPC is supposed to be--- chopping & sequencing.

9. The move method of the cursor in SAVE mode was changed.
The upper cursor movement was changed into the [SHIFT] + cursor key.

i've seen your posts, you're a clever dude for real but who defined what an MPC is supposed to be? compare a 60 to a 4000, or a 5000 to a 500.
jj in general from the beginning was a break from what an MPC is "supposed to be" as dictated by akai.
anyone from 2003 earlier would probly say that any mpc with grid edit is a break from what an MPC is supposed to be!
IMO AKAI mpc1000 os 1.07 was a break from what a MPC is supposed to be - no chopshop and sh!tty sequencing!!!! even w/ their akai 2.01 os, there was that bug where you couldn't use the "move" function in step edit cuz that shit would break your sequence irreparably.
