Qlink frustration. Active buttons dont seem to make any diff

Im recording Qlink information. I can see ive recorded it.But the sequence still is affected by the Q link knobs even though i then make them inactive. Is it impossible to change the parameters of the Q link knobs and then record that into a different sequence. For example record on Sequence 1 use Qlink Slider 1 to affect cutoff and then on Sequence 2 use Qlink Slider 1 to control Volume or something but not cutoff. dont know if i explained that properly. i just seem to be getting unpredictable results.
Would i need to change the multi to do this.

yeah, would be sick if youd help out the people who have the same problem by posting your solution, which is just the case of a copy and paste for you....
