Alright, if not for vinyl where are you sampling from? Ah, youtube and MP3's?
So what you say, get on with the times you dinosaur, eh?
Well there are several flaws in that:
1. You are getting a compressed audio source to start with
2. Where do you think the records came from. They magically self manifested on your favorite blog? No, someone actually went out to look for them, bought the vinyl, recorded to a computer, converted to MP3 and uploaded it. If you and others would also do this, there would be more record stores around.
3. You are not diggin' you are flipping thru what someone else dugg out.
4. You are limited to what someone else decides to put out there (even if it's the record companies)
5. You and 5000 other people at any given time.
1 isnt vinyl compressed too?
2 you are forgetting cd's
3 so what
4 see '3' + if your only diggin vinyl.. you're limited too
5 huh.. explain this better please
1. no
2. indeed
3. you don't get the fun of finding your own stuff. that might not matter to some people.
4. true, but vinyl has been in production for a lot longer than CDs, not everything has been reissued on CD. And much much longer than MP3s or youtube have been around.
5. something on youtube or a blog is public to the whole world. a record (or CD) you find in a shop might be unknown to most other people looking for sample sources.
