quick question about midi cables

im gonna MIDI up my MicroKorg and Mpc 500 and I was wondering, would it make any difference if I got 2 seperate MIDI cables or if i just bought a dual-ended cable, like the one below?

but i think you need only one cable if you want to send midi from the 500 to the MK

to me it seems like a common midi cable

those will be fine, and as long as your not yanking or stretching the cables, the cheapness shouldn't effect them. Since they send data and not audio i wouldn't spend much on them, because you don't need to worry about interference

im heading to buy a few other cables tomorrow and figured once im over there, i'll pick up some Midi cables and phux with Midi for the first time....which i have a feeling is going to be one hell of a FUN time...

hey i have a question how can i hook up my microkorg to my mpc500? i have a few midi cables nd tried it like said above but it wont work, and to be honest, i really don't know what should work when i hook em together?

the only difference it will make is keeper your cables tidier, which will increase the peace and make your surroundings more pleasant. DO IT!

but then you need one to send the info back

i only use 1 midi cable with my mpc2000 and my microkorg (mpc out to MK in)
don't know if for the 500 is different

To each his own, but I never acquired a taste for budget midi cables.

My moto is buy them one time and forget about 'em.

And the pic is just a drop of what I have.

The picture is really just two midi cables glued together. I had one like that and ended up just ripping the two apart. Now I have more options

which means you can't play the MK keys as a midi controller and have that sequence recorded in the mpc, right? so having another cable going the other way would allow you to do that

of course it's optional, but it gives you more choices
