im gonna MIDI up my MicroKorg and Mpc 500 and I was wondering, would it make any difference if I got 2 seperate MIDI cables or if i just bought a dual-ended cable, like the one below?

but i think you need only one cable if you want to send midi from the 500 to the MK

those will be fine, and as long as your not yanking or stretching the cables, the cheapness shouldn't effect them. Since they send data and not audio i wouldn't spend much on them, because you don't need to worry about interference

awesome. thanks yall

im heading to buy a few other cables tomorrow and figured once im over there, i'll pick up some Midi cables and phux with Midi for the first time....which i have a feeling is going to be one hell of a FUN time... :wink:

the only difference it will make is keeper your cables tidier, which will increase the peace and make your surroundings more pleasant. DO IT! ;)

i only use 1 midi cable with my mpc2000 and my microkorg (mpc out to MK in)
don't know if for the 500 is different

To each his own, but I never acquired a taste for budget midi cables.

My moto is buy them one time and forget about 'em. 8)

And the pic is just a drop of what I have.

which means you can't play the MK keys as a midi controller and have that sequence recorded in the mpc, right? so having another cable going the other way would allow you to do that

of course it's optional, but it gives you more choices
