So MG, when did we get a 4k? Just checking......but since the 4k is multitimbral, I think it would be wise for you to hook up a midi keyboard and trigger your samples from there.
That's not the only way to do what you're asking, but it's an easier alternative.

still learning the 4K so no idea what im doing really. I have a drum program with various 808s ive loaded and a violin multisample program. I created a drum pattern and when I go to program > switch to violin program it plays the drum pattern with the violin samples. I want them to both play. sucks with no manual.

you need to create separate tracks for your instruments on the main page (bottom half of the screen)

you need to make sure the part number is different
eg track 1 part1:808 program
track 2 part2:multisample program
eg track 1 part1:808 program
track 2 part2:multisample program

no I know that. I will try when I get home. also another question...how can I achieve good levels when I sample via a CD? whenever I do its too quiet.

@MG... Would I be right in saying you've gone from a 1k, to a 2kxl, to an ASR 10 and now a 4k??

The 4k would be way too complex for me, so MG might have some serious issues...

@ coz nah you can handle it,its just being patient and getting out of it what you want.if you know how to sample and set your tracks up to record,like any other mpc,you halfway know it.but the good thing about it is,its a machine you can grow with as you go.
