yeah, basically you get 32, and regardless if you use em or not they are there. its not entirely a bad thing. sometimes i use them to scour the sample for interesting chunks/start points (randomly hitting pads).

i don't like having non-filled silence in between my chops because it breaks the sonic texture and sounds wrong for the organic vibe i try to go for. unless it's an obvious glitch sound i'm trying, i want it to sound as close to natural as possible, accounting for the wavering that is inherent in crossfade looping. it's a signature thing.

this is an older example from one of my os2 videos, it demonstrates using alternate loop to do something similar. these days i use crossfade because it's smoother.

i said in this video that the mpc1000/2500 can't do realtime pitch shifting - this was before jj os introduced it. shows the age of this video.
