Got to say, I think you guys have been pretty harsh on Jamon. It's a fan site, he doesn't need permission as long as he stays within certain boundaries.
I also think JJ would like to see people spreading the love; it's win-win for everyone.
Yes, sure it would always be nice to have 'official blessing', but to say it's bad manners to not ask is going too far IMO - it's a mutually beneficial arrangement - it promotes JJ OS, it provides the fan with a project he feels passionate about, and hopefully it provides a beneficial service to other MPC users. A fan site is a show of love for both JJ and the JJOS community, so it seems odd to put someone down for showing that love, just because they chose not to ask 'permission'.
Give him some time to set it up properly - I'm sure he'll keep adding to it over time so it becomes a great resource - with a bit of positive encouragement.
You know, if someone would like to set up a site promoting my products and pushing people directly back to my site to buy them, you don't need my permission, go for it

I do think the donation thing is a bad idea, you don't want to be taking donations on someone else's behalf. I think JJ would simply prefer people to 'donate' by buying one of his OS!
As for offering downloads of the JJ OS, I think cries of copyright infringement are a bit OTT, as again, I suspect JJ would prefer the OS be gotten hold of as easily as possible. I mean, it's a trial product, so it's free marketing - it still has to be bought direct through JJ. But sure, it can be seen as unauthorised distribution, although many developers do allow this in their licenses.
However, in the new menus on this site, I've chosen to use the direct links to JJ's site - it makes no odds to me, but I would however like to offer archives of the older versions - again, I personally don't see a massive problem with this, I think many people would appreciate it as JJ doesn't offer it on the official site, but if everyone is going to accuse me of copyright infringement, I wont bother

.
If someone who has JJ's contact details could ask him if he has a problem with the forum creating and hosting a public archive of older OS versions, I'd appreciate it. Or forward me JJ's contact details via PM, as I don't have them.
