Tempest is not for me though.
So you understand that the problem with the samples and libraries for the 808 or 909 is that they all suffer from purpose in samples.
They try to give either a generic sample or sample from their perspective.
Anyone with a 808 knows that you tweak the sample in the 808, then eq and compress it to serve your purpose or deliver the sound you are after.
When they do this with the samples in some cases it takes away harmonic content, other times it adds content.
Either affects what you have as your 808 sample.
Always found the easiest way to use my 808 was to sample it into the SP or Emax and use it from there.
The 3k was good but not the same.
Never sampled the 808 into the 4k since by then I had tons of 808 samples that I just transferred to it, but the 96k might yield results better than what people typically offer.
All this to say the best 808 samples come from being able to roll your own, unless you have a MIDI kit on your 808.
At least in my experience it was.
The could have made a lower priced analog drum machine and made some major changes in the game.
They tried to add features that drove the price in a costly direction.
