Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Oh, I agree, there's always going to be problems with software, that's the nature of the beast. However, I think it helps greatly if the company deals with such issues with a high level of transparency - that's the differentiator. For example, actually publicly acknowledging that the bugs exist, telling the customers what they plan to do about them, letting them know how they are getting on with the solution etc.

Basically openly engaging with their customers over the problems. In these cases, customers tend to be more understanding about the issues the company may be facing in solving the bugs and other issues.

As an MPC fanatic, I hope this forum builds a better relationship with Akai. I would like to see continued development of MPC products and their software.

Agree, 100%.

I agree with every word you said 1000%.

However...the nature of these forums, this one in particular, makes it extremely difficult to have an open dialog. We have members here whose sole purpose for living (it seems) is to be negative regarding anything Numark/Akai. "Hey..we just got a new OS update from JJ! Love you JJ....**** NuKai!" Why would a product specialist spend his/her busy days in an unofficial forum with this rampant behavior? In the past we had an opportunity for open dialog. This was a missed opportunity as the Akai rep was pretty much ran out of the forums.

Korg has an unofficial user's forum. Korg product specialists are active members and do contribute what they can. Although there are similar complaints about certain Korg products, in my opinion, it comes no where close to the frenzy you see here. When the MPC 5000 was released, only a handful of us purchased them. But a majority of the complaints were from individuals that didn't own the MPC 5000. Everyone knows the rest of the story.

To wrap this up....a little respect goes a long way. Nothing will be gained by being disrespectful.

You're right. We should start censoring people who are critical of Akai so that they come spend more time here.

Really?

Roland Fantom G ($2500). I have owned this keyboard for 4 years. It has had like 2 updates and only one of them was useful...meaning it added multisampling and an undo button. It replaces the Fantom X but Roland stripped down its sampling capabilities. How do you go from haveing 96 chops to only 16? I went from being able to chop and automap to a patch to not having this function at all. It is the worst supporting Roland workstation in history. They gave us ARX card support but then didn't give us only 3 ARX cards ($400+ ea). There are dozens of SRX and JV cards for their other workstations. Roland refuses to update the Fantom G's plugin editor so it will work properly with Window's 7. Roland still sells this keyboard but have no interest in supporting it. Visit http://forums.rolandclan.com/viewforum.php?f=29 to read all other gripes.

Korg Kronos ($3000). I have owned this keyboard for 8 months. It has had 1 update. The Kronos was advertised with plugin capabilities and includes and editor. Korg later retracted that and have yet to make good on it. Build quality and bugs have been a serious headache. My data wheel fell off after using in 2 days and it wouldn't stay in place. Korg secured the data wheel with 2 sided tape. The redesigned the wheel and used velcrow. Numerous users have broken keybeds. My motherboard just died and Korg doesn't have the parts readily available to fix it. So I am without my $3000 workstation. Even with the OS updates, there are a few bugs that need to be addressed. You can visit http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... 8bd80a111d to read other gripes.

DAWs. Take your pick from any of the leading ones and visit their forums. You will see numerous posts about bugs only being fixed via paid updates. I used Nuendo 1 - 4. This was common. Visit http://www.nuendo.com

These are all perfect examples. There are more but I only talk about products that I own.

I meant on the software side, companies make an attempt to provide bug fixes. At least the software I own. But software for computers is just so much more complicated. I'd expect some minor bugs between releases, but actual updates do tend to be much more frequent than any MPC I've owned.

But hardware, like I said, should be much simpler to keep as bug free as possible. I think the thing now is that hardware pieces do so much more than they did years ago. I guess it could be more complicated, but still shouldn't be as complicated as an actual computer app, IMO!

And I did mention the software of those hardware workstations. I didn't go into all the details as you can visit their respective forums and read for yourself. I assume hardware is simpler to fix bugs. But simpler doesn't mean easy.

I don't know how fast updates will occur. But I fully believe Akai has every intention to make this a successful product. They have reached out to a lot of producers as well as members across numerous music production forums for feedback. The video tells you this much.

I get excited with each new MPC release (see old MPC 2500, 4000, and 5000 threads). I can't think about anythine else right now. I am redesigning my entire home lab around these new MPCs.

I was serious.

Look..I can't be converted into using something else. And I enjoy are exchanges. Its nothing personal...just having fun in the forums. So guys chillout...its not that serious. I haven't insulted anyone.

Its just like the NI Forums. It was so quiet around here. The MPC Ren/Studio hase people coming out of their shells and back to the forum. Its a good thing. :D

And to clarify my statement regarding prices....everyone doesn't need a pair of Jordans. MPC...same thing.

I just finished watching those. I thought I was bad the feature requests. They want change the locations of the transport, make full level/velocity/sensitivty per pad, etc. I found it funny when they were talking about breaking the buttons. I have rarely since this. While tact switches wear out eventually, I can remember seeing many people break the plastic buttons.

In making these new MPCs, it is good to get feedback from a lot of users because everyone wants something slightly different.

Really? Them shits are broken on my XL. The ones for play, play start, and stop. Them shits broke after a couple years! Not really a big deal because the case still holds them in place.

I just bought an XL off this Japanese dude. It looked like its been through hell. I soaked all the knobs and buttons to get the yellow smoke film off, sprayed the face plate with bleach, air blasted the insides....but no broken buttons. And I have only broken one button which was on the 2000 because I didn't seat the faceplate properly.

Incorrect....both of those dudes are MPC users regardless of what the say in the forums. They were asking about features Maschine can't do..not now...and not in the near future. At the end of the videos, they both are as excited as I am about the new MPCs. I know you are passionate about Maschine. But you can't deny what Akai is bringing to the table. You don't have to take my word for it. But I can tell you that Akai is passionate about this new product line and it wil be thoroughly tested...and supported. I can under you being skeptical. That's ok. Just sit back and watch. You will hear plenty of feedback on the forum that can help you decide if you should pick one up. After a few months, you will even see a few on eBay that you can purchase at a discount.

I think Daniel Gill does well, especially as he is getting a proper grilling on camera, and probably realises it's going straight up on youtube. I also think think Flux and Saint Joe asked some great questions.

At 2:03 in the part 3 vid, Daniel confirms that rather than worry about future features, they are going to first ensure the 'software is right, the core features are solid'. This is the sort of stuff I wanted to hear from them. If this is the case, I'm getting more confident that these products are going to be something special.
