out of curiosity I did some main out re-sampling to see if the mpc would sample a 1 bar loop and create samples of the same length every time.

I just created a simple 1 bar 4/4 loop, 4 notes, 1 note every beat, a rim shot. So during play back with the metronome set to 1/4 it would match the rim shot.

2) created an audio track. set loop to 1-1, this way the mpc would sample exactly one bar and stop. Set MAIN OUT as input source.

3) turned metronome off (both in play and in rec)

hit record a few times, got audio samples of the beat, but no sample had the same length, they all differed, some more than others.

The focus on audio tracks as being the perfect input loop source is going to get you nowhere.

yep, that's why I use Patterns, they loop constantly in sync. I only wish they were not limited to 4/4.

The other day I recorded a riff to an audio track in 7/4, the workaround to make a pattern loop out of it was to make a 28 bar 4/4 sequence. (4 x 7 = 28)
