is it possible that the addition of the MPC STUFF logo is causing these issues? were these issues present during development [before adding the logo]??

No, that's impossible. It's a processing issue. I've explained it before (and I will again). The MPC display is unlike anything you'll ever find off the shelf. It actually performs some of the MPC's processing power. Of course, we didn't know this when we started, and we had gotten in about 6 months before realizing that in order for the MPC to update the display quickly, we had to do a LOT of background processing. Well, this takes time to step through....we've maxed the processor we're using now. The lag is really just a safeguard against corrupted data. If we don't put this safeguard in place, the whole screen 'jumps' about 10 pixels to the right while the MPC updates the display. Of course, that looks much worse than a slight lag, so we went that route. Perfect? Of course not. But as many people have said, it beats a completely dead screen.

Even so, we're not sitting on our hands. We are still researching (at my personal expense) ways to minimize the lag and improve stability. It's not as though we said "Ah, ship it..." we really didn't know these issues existed until they started popping up as users responded.

If your screen totally freezes, you are welcome to return the screen for a replacement. We are taking care of these "freezing" issues on a case-by-case basis. Fortunately for all of us, it is just a small fraction of the overall sales.

Not really sure how small a group it is or isn't but I know mine became unusable.
It would freeze every time I tried to use it within a few bars of playing.
Didn't require any keystrokes just the fact of playing a simple sequence.
Buttons still would function but the display would be stuck on the MPCstuff splash screen and no way to get past it.
This was in a studio with clean, regulated power that gets regular inspections of the electrical system.

I sent a video of the problem so they could see what the display was doing.

The lag wasn't an issue to me this was.

I really appreciate the effort put into coming up with these displays however with this current aspect I could not longer support the product.

I hope they are able to successfully isolate the cause and resolve it but for now I'm back on my old display.

I have a 2000 classic that needs ram because the onboard is burned out, will this be an issue if I use your screen?
By Saaword Thu Mar 08, 2012 7:33 pm
yeah it seems for the HIGH price of the display the makers really shorted the MPC users... I will not support this product. Makers, you should hae taken notes on customer service from the Valixi'nator! and his stuff was reasonable in the price area... Old MPC screen it will have to be until someone can correctly and with out raping the mpc users pockets!

should have tested these with some mpc users prior for a few months before you put them to the mark... just a bit of advice for your next attempt

You really dont know about Rohan?
Damn dude, dont hate the dude, he IS providing support. And at 165 bucks, its not a bad deal. Regurbished are still over 200, NOS around the 3-400 range. This is a first run of the product, and with any first run, there will be products. I support envision 100%, for at least attempting the imposssible. Maybe you should educate yourself in what went into this before shitting on it, new guy. C'mon son! Git tha **** outta here with that bul shit son!

$165 is a great price for a new LCD screen when the used ones are more that $200. In terms of customer service, I think it's great! I have issues with mine and currently working on getting it corrected but I always get fast email responses from both mpc stuff and envision. They always return my calls and super helpful so I don't see how they are lacking in customer service. Keep in mind i was upset when I realized there was latency in the display and the screen often had mixed up words but these were issues that would have cost us more to have fixed and the screens would. It have been available for another year. Maybe they should have mentioned that, maybe it's not that much of a big deal when you have a clean workin screen that messes up slightly versus a screen you can't read at all. At the end of the day they are providing somethin that almost every 2000 user needs or will need soon. Theyade an attempt that also could probably care less about. It's cool if you don't support the screen because there are plenty more who will. I say give them a shot, tell them all of the bugs with your screen to
Help them make better ones.

Envision,

do you have any plans to extend your range of products to other MPCs such as 4k Screens, a 4k Mobo. In fact can you just dedicate your entire life to spare parts for the 4k

Why did you pick the 2000/XL to make screens. Just out of interest.

Well yes and no, $200 no lag or freezes is a better deal than $165 with lag and freeze.
Even a display with lines that is still visible is better than your display being hung on the splash screen.

Definitely think a larger test base would have been useful for seeing this early on.

I agree a larger test base would have helped but in their defense they are a small
Company that if I'm not mistaking, only got started because NI one else was making an attempt to provide brand new screens. Will you support the product once all of te bugs are fixed? Do you own one now? I ask because I felt jipped when I saw the lag and the distortion of some characters but I got over that quickly. Because it was better than my oem screen that didn't allow me to

I had one and returned it when it became unusable.
The lag was tolerable but the constant frozen screen made it unbearable.
Small or not makes no difference in this case.
Based on what I observed and the fact that it required no human interaction to freeze this should have been seen in testing.

Maybe they could have sold some of the original ones at a lower price to create a core of BETA testers.

I'm posting so potential buyers are aware of what they are getting into if they go with this screen.
There seems to be confusion in that we are past talking about the lag or occasional garbled screen text.
The main concern now is the screen freezing and reverting back to the splash screen rendering the unit unusable until you reboot.
If it's like mine was then a reboot simply prepares you for it to freeze again.

It's been proven and acknowledged to exist so until Envision isolates the cause and can resolve it, people need to be aware of the problem.

i might be wrong, but i think "impossible" may be a bit of an overstatement though... the mpcstuff logo needs to be "processed" as well... and we've already heard of cases in which the screen got stuck on the logo screen... it seems to me like it's at least worth looking into. i understand mpcstuff wanted to put their name all over a product unavailable elsewhere, but now they've got their name stuck on a faulty product... these are just observations, i mean no disrespect at all.
