Whatsup guys,

I know you can sample sounds into the MPC to get that gritty sound. To do this you have to record the sound, assign it to a pad and then put it on the sequencer, right?

Watch this vid @2.30

He presses record on his MPC, lays down the notes, and when the loop ends it replays the sequence with the sounds that he just recorded, he didn't first assigned the recorded sounds to a pad.

What he does is ideal, all he does is switches tracks and he can keep on rockin without having to stop the track and assign it to a pad first then sequence it, which eventually will lead to losing your mojo.

How did he achieve this?

and the youtube wrapper [ ] are the only things you need to make video show up in a post.

I fixed it, EDIT your post and see what I did there.

(disclaimer,,, I didn't watch the video)

You think so? Hmm i know Focus (the producer from the video) always has real gritty sound, sequencing midi notes doesn't effect the grittiness of the midi notes, right, or does it?

"Grittiness of the midi notes"

Classic.

It depends on the module/sound source dude. The grit can come from in there, or be applied after the audio outputs.

LOL

Haven't really thought of it like that before...the grittiness comes into play after you track everything out of course, it still comes through the MPC before it ends up in Pro Tools or whatever DAW.

Makes sense, thanks :)!

Did I just read that, lol.

Midi is not audio, he might be triggering samples from another machine via the mpc pads.

only those midi notes come "through" the mpc, audio never touches the mpc.
