Let's get some footage of them when you are finished with the changes. I'm still watching both products but haven't decided if I want one of either yet. The videos really help a lot of us to build perspective and expectations of the products beforehand, something images and spec alone can't do. Thanks for the progress report.

the studio's getting a minor facelift, that's why it hasnt been in the press as much. basic look is the same, but buttons are gonna be way better.

details soon :)

Appreciate the response. I understand the screen is the same but is it adjustable like the ren. Just want to be clear on this. Sorry to be stressing, just something I would like on the studio.

i think studio will sell well more so if it was completely battery powered

but i see the devic being used extensively by traveling musicians and djs think of the peeps that use an mpc as aprt of they live set but dont wanna lug they mpc cross country and risk it being damaged so they will **** with the studio.

or cats on the tourbus they wanna make beats real quick they will **** with studio.

also there is a huge leasure class of beatmakers that aint that seriosu but see it as a fun hobby i feel they will be attracted to the slim profile that is fun but no too intrusive.

plus some peeps really dig the small slimmed down setups these days and may seek to emulate it with the studio (think madlib with his sp303 and records)

so i think they have a great product in the studio, its not for me i want the ren

Studio is buss powered, so its pretty convenient.

the MPC500 is the Akai solution if you're looking for something without a laptop that's battery powered.

if your looking for a discussion on the best beat production tool with batteries, profanity, name calling, and general trolling, i suspect it's gonna happen right below this post in 3...2...

Those and people who have little interest in the Renaissance's audio components. Though I totally agree with you, I think it would be a mistake for Akai or others to assume that the Studio only appeals to people with limited, novel or hobbyist demands. I'll reiterate. Even where money is not an issue, there are a lot of people who wouldn't likely use the analog audio I/O of a MPC (unless it was a stand-alone one and even then they may opt for the digital I/O) or the Ren's emulation but would instead choose to use their higher end devices. The Studio also potentially appeals to these people. Even if they decided upon the Renaissance (likely due to the implicit build quality) this would still be so.

With the advent of the MPC software, if it lives up to expectations, the way those people worked will now be even more streamlined and immediate when using a Studio or even the Ren and bypassing the analog I/O.

The studio is hardly a cheap piece of gear. I'd made of aluminium, and is solid. It's designed to be able to fit in a laptop bag, but not be cheap. Its also great for people who already have high end soundcards or convertors they want to keep using.

Cool. I'm hoping to see more "in-use" videos soon, when the new changes have been finalized. 8)

I am actually be considered one of those guys. If I can fully utilize my 3rd party interface with the MPC Ren, I will most likely not use the Ren's audio I/O. My #1 reason for selecting the MPC Ren is because of its larger format control surface. I will eventually pick up an MPC Studio....just because its light and portable and I can easily take it to work and kill time.
