I'm fighting to get it to be worked on. The MPC5000 is my baby, and I want to see it updated. when I have more, I'll post it. take that however you like.
Look. I appreciate your posts. I really do. I think Akai's presence here really helps. But as a product manager at one of the largest software companies in the world, I know the difference between having pet projects and having something funded, prioritized and on the company's internal roadmap. I also understand the difficulties of getting such projects worked on when the company is gearing up to release a new set of products.
So while I appreciate that the 5000 is near and dear to your heart and that if it were up to you, you'd prioritize an update, I think it is totally unacceptable to let such rumours continue when there are clearly no specific plans. I've seen product managers at my own company make the kinds of statements above to customers,...and then leave for another company 6 months later. No accountability. No corporate memory of the informal statements made on a 3rd party site. Nothing but pissed off customers. It doesn't do anyone any good. Until I hear an official statement from the company that Akai intends to continue supporting the 5000 with new updates, your statements mean nothing.
Sometimes I still laugh out loud about the beat kangz and that time some English dude hacked the Akai marketing website and stole a bunch of pictures of the Ren before it was released.
