[BUG] OS2XL 3.18 TRIM VOLUME ISSUE

What's up guys I noticed that if you go to trim that the samples are now extremely loud but if you go to program mode or main everything plays at a normal volume. Not sure what Is causing this but it make sample editing a pain. Thanks.

From which version did you upgrade? 3.17?
Did you check twice and compare with the previous version you were using?
There are so many parameters affecting volume/ velocity..etc so it would probably help if you could provide more details

Whats up Le Rat, thank you so much for the response. I upgraded from the OS2XL 3.17 that Ive been using for 2-3 months now and everything has been perfect. The initial reason I upgraded was the fix for the external sound hanging notes, that seems to be fixed now. So as Im typing this my mpc is next to me, the master level is set to -18dB, full level is off, 16 level is set to off and main level is set to 12 o'clock with velocity curve set to A. Now as I go into trim and every sample is extremely loud but if I select F1-PgmMode the samples play at a normal level per pad. So Im not sure what is going on but Im confident its an easy fix. I'm not 100% sure but I think I've noticed the same thing that your talking about and I think it may have something to do with TRIM mode playing samples as if the Master Volume was set to 0db and the pad volume in PROGRAM will correspond to the actual Master Volume setting and whatever settings you have set in PROGRAM mode. I usually have my Master Volume set at -12db. One time I was trying to normalize a sample and I thought I had the volume right when normalized it but when I went to use the sample in program mode I noticed it was way lower. I went back and forth between TRIM and PROGRAM modes and noticed that the volume that a sample would play back at varied significantly so I set my Master Volume at 0. After that, the volume samples would play in in trim matched the volume samples would play in in program (as long as I had my level settings in PROGRAM mode at 100 of course).

Anyway, to make a long story even longer, from what I can see TRIM mode for some reason by passes the Master Volume setting and program settings. If I'm correct then this is a bug and it would be great if JJ could make the volume that a sample plays back at in TRIM dependent of the Master Volume. If this isn't what you're having troubles with or if I'm totally wrong then my bad and forget I said anything.

I wish there was more coherency between all the different modes too. For instance if I use my mpc with headphones and even if my setup is -6db master only, it often blows my ears when I listen to it in TRIM mode after pre-listening to it in LOAD/SAVE mode.

Agreed Happened to me last night.

What are the pro's and con's of setting different Master Volume levels? Sounds like a workaround for the Trim mode is just set Master Volume to 0 and it'll be consistant? Dont have my mpc here to check..

I think it depends on your workflow and your environment. Personally I keep the master level at -6db to have some headroom, sometimes -12db if I hear some distortion and if I use something I didn't sample myself.

Otherwise inside the MPC, I don't see any benefit from having different output levels. I prefer when it's as constant as possible. I was told that it could be easily "fixed" but it's not on the priority list so let's wait and see.

I dont think this has anything to do with the Master volume level. I discovered the following:

Trim seems to play the sample back at the max level. But if you are in the sample list (put cursor on sample name in Trim and press window) then the sample is played back at the velocity you hit the pad, OR, Full Level if this is turned on. And if it is on, it'll play at that set level (which doesnt need to be the max, hold the full level button down to set that level). If you raise the Full Level to 127 and turn it on, samples now play back at the same volume as in Trim, ie, max.

Turning down the master level turns both trim and sample list playback volume down equally.
