there is really no wrong or right way of chopping samples....I'd say smaller chops give overall better control...while longer are jusst well, loops...

thats what i used to do with reason mpc combo. .. i never actually sync'd them but ran them at the same bpm and would sample reason into the mpc as if it was an instrument. is this what you're doing with reaper? untill, like you said, you track out

There's not a rule for how many chops.
