If it really is an either/or choice. I'd go for the mpc 3000.
Mpc 3000, Ableton, Fender Rhodes, Motif.

It's not about software calibration. People wouldn't be modding Akai pads if that were the case.

No amount of calibration software is going to fix the inherent design flaw of Akai's pads. Maschine's pads are so much more touch sensitive. It's ridiculous.
