This feature would be great for me, too. Especially if we would be able turn the linked mode on and off. It would make chopping large samples quick and easy

have you realised that you are in fact not correct in assuming that for a good cut you should have same number for end and start points. In fact this number relates to samples and why would you repeat a sample, What it should be is the next sample and not over lap and repeat that very tiny bit you have added. Can makes a difference.
So in his case chop two should start 000368, otherwise you are repeating samples and adding glitch
