I have a Mv-8800 so i never used a DAW since i can mix and master everything with it and put i out.. Now with a Mpc 3000 on the way i have to choose which DAW i wanna use and this is where i need your help. I want one not necessarily easy to learn but easy to use..and one that i can do bassline with a midi keyboard, record vocal and add FX.

The MV is a DAW within itself. You said it yourself you mix and master in it. There's 8 audio tracks and 128 midi tracks and all the tools to edit them and fx for days.

I wouldn't have wasted money on a 3000, the MV can run like an MPC's sequencer with a few tweaks and adjustments like changing the sequencer resolution, which can be changed from 96 to 480 ppq max. But thats me.

logic, or im sure that you could import your files from the mpc to the mv and say fuq a daw.

logic is awesome though, i like it more than pt, and i know how to use both.

pt has fell by the wayside in the last few years.

Well it depends on your hardware platform first when you decide what daw you can use.

For windows systems you've got Pro Tools, Cubase/Nuendo, Fruity Loops, Sonar, Acid Pro, Reasons, etc (but most of these are cross platformed too).

Logic Audio is strictly mac only. So unless you own one, I wouldn't consider this as a choice at the moment.

Maybe you should try a free version of Audacity, or a partially free version of Reaper. This should help you decide if you'd like to try something else. If by chance you have or end up purchasing a "doggle", steinberg allows you to try unrestricted but limited timed versions of their daw programs (cubase/nuendo).

Any daw will do the trick if you are on a strict budget I'd go for reaper. If you have a little money to invest then go with something like logic or pro tools.

I'm not a huge fan of pro tools midi but its great for audio editing and what not.

I'd recommend Adobe Audition, simply because of its ease of use which is perfect if you record on the fly and do things in real time like I do
but the main thing I'd suggest is trying different ones and seeing which one compliments the way you work
you need to be comfortable with the DAW you work in, before you get bogged down in features and all that
can't really go wrong with any answer so far

I'm opposite and like Pro Tools more. That's just me, though. Logic is very very nice, but for me.....Pro Tools.

Thanks ILL lol I switched to the MV (but still have my MPC) and Im planning on copping the RENN and maybe the Maschine 2 (I can't front on the price) Overkill I know but I like the many choices we have theses days..I also know that the MV loads slow etc etc but for me it's great as im in no rush!! given the talent level we can all make a beat in 5 minutes..I don't have stock in any company so i don't tend to side with any particular one. I just go with what work's for me.. I like Reaper but use Protools,Reason,Nuendo,Audacity,FL 10, Logic, etc. like I said we have many choices choose your weapons wisely!!...
