Did someone open the beast ?

I'll like to know a little more on those pads, their feeling and how they're made.

The pads are, as far as I can tell, transparent rubber with 2mm of opaque grey on top.

They feel the same as the pads on a 5000 or 2500, as basically they are the same.

Mike from MPC Stuff has opened up the Ren, apparently it's not as easy to open up as previous MPCs.

Ok, so no fatpad or custom color for the moment.

I was wondering what lies beneath the surface, and to what extent it is user serviceable/ upgradeable.

Is the warranty void if you open it up and take some pics?

Would love to see what's underneath that armor too. Somebody pull a iFixit Teardown on that sucka

The leds on the pad is a good idea, but i'm not sure that it will be scalable.

I tore mine apart but didn't take no pictures.....

I'm not a fan of the pads, they are much bulkier than the originals and even the FAT pads

Dan said a while back that technically opening it up voids the warranty.

yeah. I wonder if they've set up a way to know if its been opened or not.

For me, it doesn't matter, because of the outside/extended warranty I got from Guitar Center. I can open it up, and still replace it if I need to do so.

Not practical but it would be crazy if you could stick a powerful mini pc in there with it setup to boot straight to the Ren software. Mod a hdmi hook up from the the built in one on the mini PC to the back of the Ren for when you feel like connecting to a big screen. Solid State Renny
