Any difference in audio quality or "tone" added from an audio interface in a modern instrument like this is negligible IMHO.

There is so much more that is going to come out of my sound design and mix engineering that I could care less if something adds a tiny bit of tone or a boost or dip at some frequency, I'm just going to mix around it anyway.

This seems like a huge waste of time to care so much about this but to each their own I guess. Have fun trying to figure this out you guys

Akai NAMM Press Release wrote:MPC Renaissance changes the output characteristics of the sound to match that of the intended machine so users seeking that sound can easily get it. In addition, the analog output circuitry in MPC Renaissance is identical to the highly regarded MPC3000.

ah I skipped this S.O.S  but few other sites I checked dont even mention it

this is what BHphoto advertises

Hardware
•Fuses legendary MPC production with the processing power of your computer
•Vintage Mode changes output sound character to MPC3000, MPC60, and more

MPC Software
•64-track sequencing capability
•Massive 6GB+ sound library, including all of the sounds of the classic MPC3000

I agree with this, but I dont think this is about the sound but more about false advertising more than anything else.. prior to release wasnt ren promoted with all these bells and whistles that didnt make the release ?.:hmmm:

yeah Jah, really.

I think that is the silliest conclusion anyone can make. Sounds ridiculous.

I'd say it's an unnecessarily expensive sound card. People can use it for sampling and the latency gets down to 64 samples on a pc I haven't been able to get under 512 reliably. But the $700 difference between the renaissance and studio is simply a transfer payment for the early adopters to fund development.

Latency issues sounds more like the user or user's computer.

I use an off the shelf PC and a Mac Mini. I can use a buffer setting of 64 on both. But I normally operate the Ren at 512. Just about any new computer you buy today is powerful enough to operate the Ren.

I'll teach you how if you are having issues.

You misunderstood, the ren outperforms other interfaces on my pc ( its 5 yrs old :)

this is like saying the audio interface on the 2500 are a pacifier cos u should be using the smart media card to load up samples

the soundcard on the ren is the same type of components that ud find on any mpc surely u can see that the onbly difference is the cpu is software based but everything else operates business as usual.

The fella who recently carried out a complete teardown of the Ren claims it's not even in the same ballpark as the 4K's interface when it comes to component quality.

The bigger issue at this point is why a 24/96 interface is defaulting samples to 16bit. :hmmm:

I'm that fella.....thats correct. I can post em side by side if anyone needs more evidence. The 16 bit thing is likely a bug or bad configuration design. They'll fix that one soon.

Sorry mate, I couldn't remember who it was.

If you've already got some pics feel free to post them. 8)

true.

nukai wasted everyone's time and probably even some people's money with these fraudulent marketing schemes that shows just how intelligent they think their customer base is.... :?

good thing the truth can be discussed in a place such as this... :-D

So now you want to compare an MPC 4000 to the Ren that cost 3x as much? That makes a lot of sense.

As of today they are a similar price in the UK.

My response was to jpeg's claim that all MPC interfaces are made equal, when they obviously aren't.
