Might require saving on the MPC and the ASR as well. (Floppy or zip for each respectively. If you see an MPC with a CF reader definitely get that one).

But again I don't work in that way where I save the whole session with MIDI settings program/bank data in the DAW. So I couldn't even tell you how to set that up or how well the MPC/ASR combo do that type of session saving with PT as the DAW. But for real man there's literally a hundred dudes here daily who can answer that more definitively. In many cases guys who use those 2 samplers with PT.

Generally speaking the Korg is newer and will be very easy to save settings/songs/patches in the DAW. It has it's own editor that would load as a plugin AU or RTAS.

On your question of alternatives, I have no experience with those types of outboard recorders. But again most everyone else here does. In that scenario same thing, look in the archives for ASR/MPC XL or have someone confirm how to save the program changes/lsb/msb MIDI data to have the hardware fire up in the same state.

I'm going to have to actually plug them in for the first time in a couple years here to personally be able to answer those questions about saving.

With all due respect, I think an ASR-10 will be too advanced for your level of knowledge. Excellent explanations provided by Metatron72 who must have bags of patience. There's little benefit in trying to punch above your weight with these machines. Start somewhere simpler, where you can learn the ins and outs, and progress from there.

Advanced Sampling Recorder = ASR-10

Dude thats why I'm asking questions if I got it I will learn to use it. People make mistakes so don't insult my intelligence. You ask , you learn , you read to get educated so right now im asking. Thank You. Get off my thread.

Obviously you don't know who Clint is, do you?

for the ASR, you are dealing with 20 year old technology... memory, SCSI, Floppies with possibly 20 year old problems. It's not computer friendly in todays standards with USB connectivity.

i should know, I own an ASR.

Don't be mad that someone gave you advice, instead of just validating you without question...

son. I did not mean to put Korg Krome VS ASR 10.. LOL idk what I was thinking I apologize man. I just hate how people try to talk to people like they are dumb on these threads when it's meant to help and give each other advice. Lets start over. I'm not getting the ASR 10 now I'm getting the Korg Krome for sure but tell me this do you know about the Krome and its abilities to use chopped slices from the "MPC" for sampling or is there a better way of doing this. I'm asking guys at the Guitar Center questions and they cannot give me a solid answer its kind of frustrating. Again I do apologize also the Korg Krome is kind of similar to the Korg Triton just has updated features , etc. So if you know about the Korg Triton then you may know if this is possible or not. Thanks!

Im trying to use the korg krome for more room to chop and slice and to be able to create and not depend on the MPC Pads all the time especially when im trying to create something really fast.

Once again... The krome isnt a sampler. Soooo that means you can't sample into it. Or chop with it...

Yep! I'm not trying to come at you sideways or anything... But before you invest in an asr10 I would make sure it's the machine for you. Try to read about and understand the workflow, and read the manual? The ways we have of making music today, are pretty transparent. Basically you can open logic or pro tools and make music in any way you want, while something like the asr10 has a much more specific way of working, which dosnt always gel with every user.

In other words, if you don't like the workflow your screwed. So make sure beforehand your confident you can work with the the asr10 has to offer.

That's the reason why I put up the links, if you read the links you'd see that there is NOT a sampling engine spec there, meaning it can't sample, that's what I'm trying to point out but I wanted you to be able to deduce that for yourself ya know.

You MUST know the capabilities of gear way before you purchase, why else would you buy gear, because you wanna use it's capabilities and if it can't do what you need then you move on to something else.

ASR10 is a great machine, it's old technology, be aware that there are certain things that DONT come with old technology.

Find a keyboard with a bit newer technology and computer connecting capabilities would be my advice. I have an asr, 4k, 2kxl, triton extreme. I use my triton WAY more than my asr because of connection capabilities and ease of storage among other things that are just easier on the triton.
