so, in soundsource i also cant change any volume for the quattro - no sound... in audio/midi setting I also cant change any volume for the quattro - there all 4 outputs are shown at lowes level, and its grey so I cant change it...

....hmm.... this would be the perfect interface for my needs.... ....i dont know what to try in addition to get it run.... ...

Driver for Quattro does not offer output level adjustment, that's why you see don't volume slider. I use with my mixer (Portastudio!) for volume control, so I don't really need it.

If you want to select active channels, under "System Preference", but in case you haven't downloaded the driver, you have to download it first:

It's under Legacy product. It's very old driver, but it still works fine with my MacBook Pro (2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 3GB RAM) with Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.. Make sure there is no other USB devices connected on the same bus. My MacBook Pro has two USB ports, but they are both on the same bus so I disconnect other USB device when I record with Quattro. I think mouse and keyboard are OK, but remove external hard drives, for instance, on USB port.

I haven't moved to Lion OS X (I'm still using Snow Leopard OS X), but I found this info.

Basically, switch to 32 bit kernel mode, install the legacy driver and it works as it does in OS X 10.6.

There is trade off to roll back to 32 bit kernel mode, but you can at least you can use M-Audio Quattro with Lion OS X.

maudio's website dont have that info ?

had to retire mine it's just too unreliable now with win7...

I was going to buy a new computer with windows 7 or 8, that's why i asked, too bad it doesn't work I'll have to stay on windows xp or buy a new audio interface then.

it'd b good if you got ur hands on 64bit iteration of xp so you can use more ram

M-Audio had some good pieces over the years but they are the Akai of driver updates. One or two if you're lucky and that's it.
