That could be it's saving grace.

Truedat, also keep in mind that there is a workaround for the 4 track limitation.Multiple instances of iMPC can be used within Retronym's Tabletop app. Tabletop is a very Reason-like environment that includes synths, effects, mixers, etc. Really cool and fun to use. Retronyms is a well established IOS developer and they constantly update their apps.

Your wife doesn't have an iPad? That's what I installed the app on (my wife's iPad). It's a pretty cool app outside of the 4 tracks.

And to the guy that mentioned the DRM issue, I was able to import a song directly from my wife's iTunes library on the iPad and chop it up. There's no chop shop, but it didn't give me any copyright messages! Don't know what that was about!

iMac is cool and more stable. It an idea scratch pad. It is a bit better than iMaschine but a couple of upgrades can bring it up to beatmaker as far as editing samples.

Just got my mom an ipad 3 16gb wifi. It made the most sense due to the connector and screen. The mini and the 2 are the same... but why pay more for a smaller screen? I paid $90.00 more and got the retina.. no looking back.

Anyhow... I installed BM2 and Nanostudio on her ipad 3 and was sequencing nanostudio via BM2 wireless via wist(MIDIBRIDGE ALSO). It was awesome!!! I used MY ipad over wifi to pull up sounds... edit channels and sounds.. If you have a touch or iphone and ipad try it out!!

I knew the renaissance was coming... I knew it would be whatever it was upon release... I am still pissed... BUT... I know what the future holds and it's very promising for the REN. BUT.... these apps are better than the mpc renaissance and impc app. BM2 and Nanostudio will ALWAYS be better than iMPC...

I am STUMPED as to why akai didn't use established code writers/developers already.... You know what... FLUCK AKAI.

Get the MOST STABLE apps avail. WAkai should have used these coders to help develop and maintain the mpc renaissance software. As of right now... I don't use my renaissance because if it crashes on me again during production I might break it unintentionally.

NANOSTUDIO hands down the best music production app avail on IOS

INSTRUMENTS

Up to 6 simultaneous instruments (including mixer) or upgrade with the '16 Instrument Tracks' in-app purchase, particularly recommended for newer devices.

'Eden', a powerful 16 voice subtractive synth with dual oscillators, 2 pole resonant filter, 3 envelope generators and 4 LFO's per voice and 2 dedicated insert effects. Eden's virtual patchbay lets you hook up almost anything for modulation mayhem.

The 'TRG-16', a performance pad for triggering samples. Adjust pitch, pan, volume and envelopes and assign each sample to one of the 3 output busses, each with its own effect sends and filter setup.

SAMPLING

Record samples with the built-in mic (iPod Touch requires external mic), resample NanoStudio's own output or upload your own samples using NanoSync for OS X/Windows. Edit your samples using NanoStudio's built-in wave editing tools (with multiple undo/redo) and process them offline with custom effects chains.

SEQUENCER

Record performances in real-time using the keys and trigger pads or create patterns and controller sweeps by drawing them in the piano roll editor. Arrange your patterns into a complete song using the track editor. You can edit while the song is playing and every operation has multiple undo/redo.

MASTERING

Nanostudio's mixer has 2 global effects sends, 4 insert effects per channel and you can record, edit and playback all your fader and pan changes. When you're ready to share your mix with others you can upload it direct to SoundCloud or use NanoSync to copy the exported .wav file to your Mac/PC.

EFFECTS

NanoStudio's reverb, compressor, parametric EQ, waveshaper, delay, chorus, and bitcrusher effects are all highly optimized so you can run lots of them.

You can also mix/master/finalize your tracks or send them indiv to your DAW. These programs are STABLE and AWESOME. I am still using them entirely until the 1.3 or 1.4 update... I can't go crazy, I'll let yall go for me.

GENTLEMEN...LISTEN... purchase the alesis io dock for your ipad to you have a DAW.... ipad 3 retina $600 Alesis io dock $120.00 Apps $40.00 $760.00 total studio!!! This combo is OOOOOOFFFF DA CHAIN!!!!!

Beat Maker 2 Definitely is a strong competitor. even against computer based DAWS

Turn your iPad into an MPC. With more than 1,200 samples, 50 editable programs, 80 editable sequences, and iconic MPC workflow, iMPC is the first app to bring all the functionality of a classic Akai Pro MPC to your iPad.

If that quote is taken at face value, not a marketing ploy, then the iMPC app [standalone mode] is severely lacking.

I still find it more enjoyable than Beatmaker 2 [standalone and certainly, in Tabletop].

Start at 4:53 or about.

It's more humorous than insulting,

"We've actually created something that professionals can make music on."

haha, :hmmm:

"Our own software version of the 2000XL"

Let's give Retronyms/AKAI, the benefit of the doubt.

I'm sure this is doing well for both companies and I hope they reinvest some of that money into bettering iMPC for everyone.

Also, let's take a "look" at Beatmaker...

I have respect for the developers at Intua, but it's not the right work environment, for me. I felt that it was clunky, which was two updates ago or so (the last time I used it). What is cool is that Intua released the original Beatmaker (1) in 2008 (Aug 27 '08).

Remember, it's version 1.0 of iMPC and I think we'll see it updated with more "MPC workflow" in the future, hopefully, not so distant

Hey Dom... STOP PLAYING GAMES. We've only discussed and posted BEATMAKER 2 specs. Why are you posting Beat Maker 1? Why didn't you post pics of Nanostudio? Seems that you are trying to pull a Mitt Romney and twist the facts... Please EDIT your post to display the photos of the apps discussed. Thank you.

Nanostudio is awesome.

http://blipinteractive.co.uk/media.php

I just opened up Beatmaker 2, running 2.3, it's not as bad as I remember.

For me, I find iMPC much quicker and easier to sample.

They probably work nice hand-in-hand.

I don't understand the rest of what you wrote? Or why you'd say that? :hmmm:

Make music, not noise.

I get the DRM issue but I'm sure its due to iTunes Match (which i use).

DJ Hellfire wrote:Maschine's sounds/pads are, in theory, tracks. So given iMaschine's 16 pads per 4 groups, that's 48 tracks/sounds that can be effected individually or exported individually as stems!

Actually, 16 pads x 8 groups = 128 tracks

"A MASCHINE Project has up to 128 sounds, split across 8 Groups, and each Group can contain up to 16 Sounds. There is no limit to the number of samples per instance, because each MASCHINE Sound has its own sample map, including key and velocity mapping. In traditional terms, this translates to 128 tracks per instance."
