Yeah $399 was the first one quoted on the Fly. Then they said $299, but it looks like the MSRP will actually be the street price. I've heard it may have released today, but no way I'll buy one. CCK and a Korg nano are like less than $90 for both.

Yeah. Really today huh. Yeah to me it's just a cool case that's way overpriced. And btw if I wanted to use it I would have to get a stupid adapter for the 30 pin to lightning because akai decided to make this for iPad 2 crazy! Totally takes away from the cool factor.

No it's actually iPad 4 it's built for. The 3 has the old 30 pin dock too. And I haven't even seen this adapter yet.

Apple does have a 30 pin to lightning adapter so your ipad 4 can be backward compatible with all of your 30 pin accessories but that totally takes away from the cool factor if I would have to put an adapter on just to use it. :(

Is it like a cable that sticks out? I'm just trying to picture how it fits in with the adapter.

And yeah the spec sheet is older. It wasn't until NAMM just the other week that they showed it with thunderbolt as standard.

Oh. Now I am seeing that they have adjusted for iPad 4. But in a post on community.akaipro something or other the akai spokesperson was saying hopefully they will have runs of both 30 pin Flys and Lightning Flys initially so previous model ipad users may still be in luck.
Also just saw a video on you tube from Namm showin how s#%ty the pads are on this thing. Check it out.

Yeah Flux found them kinda meh. Probably the lower mounting issue again like MPD's and 1000's...sigh.

Yeah I was picturing some cord dangle on the adapter. It's Akai we'll have to go in a GC and just peep I think to know for sure.

Although IMPC is a really good app, it still lacks a lot that I miss, and hence gave it 2/5 in the app store.

Don't get me wrong, but it could certainly not be that bad to have these features added, and I'm even willing to pay for a pro version:

Sample editor:
* Increase sample length to 10 minutes.
C'mon guys I got 16 GB available, so a 9 seconds sample limit feels kinda meh. I own an MPC 1000 with 16 MB that can sample 1 minute.
* Zoom in / out
* Normalize sample
* Auto slice sample
* Sample looping

Pad editor:
* Transpose pads in semitones
* Choke groups
* Filters
* Envelopes

Overall:
* Increase tracks to 64
* Increase pads per program to 64
* More effects
* Assign 1 sequence per pad.
* Song editor.

Wow, i thought i was gonna see a thread of everyone rating it. I've never owned an MPC, so I didn't expect much, but when i bought this thing for 8 bucks i thought it was a steal. first of all, how can people complain about having only 4 tracks? if you can't make a decent tune with 64 samples, you aren't thinking enough. 4 programs is plenty for me. However, now that i've heard about Beatmaker2 that has 8 banks, i can see how that would annoy people, but i had no knowledge of this beforehand so whatevs.

Anyways, i've been getting a kick out of iMPC. I rely on the sampler, even if it's one chop for each recording, 10 second recordings at that. Even so, it's not that hard to work around, just keep track of where you are in the song and embrace the repitition. Is that seriously the only reason why people are saying it can't chop? and yeah, it would be so dope if the pads had velocity, but it's an app, i guess i'll just use my variation slider and play with the filter&velocity as i'm finger drumming, that'll work for me for now i guess.

For kids like me who've always wanted an MPC but could never afford the large price tags, i honestly think this app is a good intro into the workflow. A 4 year old could understand the layout, there's swing, i can sample tunes from my library all day, and if i make a sick beat i can literally upload it to soundcloud in 10 seconds. I'm not trying to fanboy, i just think it's a sick app. Defs trying out that tabletop shit, though, looks tight.

The sampler is annoying, but it's the only sampler i've ever known. One thing i was surprised about is how reactive the pads are, more so then iMaschine. If only you could map multiple sounds to a pad :D

One question i have though: Is there a way to combine sequences? I've only been uploading individual sequences to soundcloud, i've been wondering if there's a way to combine sequences so that you can upload them together.

Healthy chops. I like iMPC with tabletop. But seriously if you knew any better you'd be upset at how crippled the app is. The 4 tracks isn't what bothers me. It every other basic feature that they left out on purpose. I still use it sometimes but having to do workarounds all the freekin time is annoying. I'm using BM2 for my iOS stuff until they improve the app. It's a time waster.
