Hi.
I've recently purchased my first MPC. It's a MPC 2500 Special Ed. (Soooo much to learn
)
The reason for my purchase is this:
I've been playing live acoustic drums for many years.
But 5-6 years ago I got tired of spending so much time practicing in dark moist underground rehearsal rooms. So I quit almost overnight, sold most of my drum kits, and build a small home studio instead and have been producing music on my computer ever since.
But I've been missing playing music live and have been looking for a way to get away from producing on the computer. So I bought the MPC as a new way of drumming live and trickering samples as well. And I love banging away on the pads and producing beats this way instead of using the mouse all the time.
But here's the thing: as a drummer I've been used to playing a lot of ghost notes on the snare to get things grooving or for combin' in jazz. Now (for those of you who aren't into acoustic drums) this is usually done by playing very very soft on the snare. And I hope to be able to do the same thing on the MPC but I just can't get it to respond to very light touches.
I've been fiddling around with the sensitivity settings etc. quite a bit. But I can't get it to respond to light ghost notes. And if I make use of the most sensitive setting it trickers other pads as well (I've noticed this is some times referred to as ghost notes on this forum... but it is not the kind of ghost notes I'm talking about here).
Is there a way to get the MPC pads to respond to the lightest touch (almost as light as the touch you can use for a touch screen on a smart phone) - without it also trickering other pads? Is it at all possible to play ghost notes on the MPC? Or should I rethink my approach?
Cheers from Denmark
