A: A MASCHINE Project has up to 128 sounds, split across 8 Groups, and each Group can contain up to 16 Sounds. There is no limit to the number of samples per instance, because each MASCHINE Sound has its own sample map, including key and velocity mapping. In traditional terms, this translates to 128 tracks per instance.

i cant believe it.
im not a musican for classik anf folk-mainstream beats
please fix this in the next update
Yeah. It's kinda surprising (well, maybe not too surprising considering Akai's track record) to have such a glaring omission when they should have had plenty of time to learn from existing solutions if they were paying attention: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdJh4FMNhNE

Have you even noticed that you cant have an insert in a submix ?
Or that you cant have an insert on a pad AND on the track
since when you add a effect to a pad it will be routed to the submix.
Yeah, that's been well-documented here: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=163430
It really is a terrible design. There is definitely something wrong when a very basic thing like turning down a volume on a track after things like adding compression is so unintuitive and requires a convoluted workaround. There should be no "track mixer" or inserts which just causes more confusion, forcing you to worry about track routing, how duplicating tracks duplicates plug instances etc.. They need to build a proper pad mixer with inserts and meters between the samples and the program inserts. The way it's designed on Maschine is the way they should have done it.
Every traditional DAW has a track mixer. The Ren's track mixer is pretty straight forward and what I would expect from an MPC. The Ren's 'Pad Mixer' aka 'Program Mixer' is pretty much the same as every hardware MPC with the exception that it allows Insert FXs which is an MPC first (hardware MPCs only have send effects).
For the record (as written above), Maschine's 'Pads/Sounds' are the 'equivalent' to tracks as seen in traditional DAWs without the benefit of have a multichannel mixer. This is a glaring NI ommission IMO and I wouldn't want to see the Ren/Studio with this same limitation. But no worries as I don't believe Akai will ever cripple the Ren/Studio in this regard and expect them to only make it better (such as adding headroom, audio tracks, etc). With that being said, the MPC Ren/Studio track mixer can have up to 4 Inserts per channel as compared to 3 in Maschine. Track Insert FXs do not auto route to Submixes. Each Ren/Stduio track also includes 4 effect sends.
Additionally, the Ren doesn't duplicate plugin instances as of 1.3. This is the #1 feature of 1.3.
I personally like the direction Akai is taking the Ren. There isn't any feature specific to Maschine that I would want added to the Ren/Studio.
