The cpu would have one job and that is to transfer the data at a 1:1 ratio to the ram and there will be no grainy noise.

Like with graphics. The GPU, CPU and the Ram play a part to play a pc game and if the game rely on the cpu for graphics. The game gets laggy.

How did you come to this conclusion? Can anyone explain why the majority of us don't have this issue versus the 2-3 members that say they have problems?

No offense, but from a bunch of technical standpoints of how software, computers, RAM, ASIO, and Core Audio work; everything single thing you said is not true, and the CPU/GPU analogy is not remotely accurate. CPU's process the audio always, it's not a job it only picks up or has to go harder at because an A/D convertor is overwhelmed. Again the whole post is 100% not how it works.

Some owners are experiencing a driver error. It's dead obvious in the reports that say they can alleviate the issue by making any kind of tweak to the audio settings screen. This will always reset a driver on any software not requiring a restart on a sample rate change.

That is also extremely likely what these users are having happen some audio driver error is changing your sample rate on the fly, which will always result in the audio stream getting distorted. I have witnessed errors like this on Ploytec adapted drivers on 3 different interfaces from 3 different manufacturers over the years.

It may be faulty units, but it's probably more likely that the driver on some configurations is not working properly or something is spiking the CPU at the exact same time the CPU is polling the ASIO stream/cycling the sample buffer. DPC Latency Checker can visually monitor any possible CPU spiking that may hit at the exact same moment the audio stream goes wrong.

http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

If you can un-install just the driver, and then re-install it, I would try that. I would also recommend to delete the driver's registry entries before re-installing. I always was able to get Ploytec adapted drivers (which the Ren driver is) to work right through re-installs.

Hope no one has faulty gear or needs a swap. But certainly investigating what may be causing the driver error would be something to investigate well before returning it.

Good reply fam.. Def would suck if this was cause if Faulty gear.

Simple fact - I've used multiple music making software programs with high CPU usage on this exact computer and NEVER had an issue like this... So Jah don't be so quick to blame the user!! Just consider for once it might be the beloved ren. And for the millionth time in NOTA hating on the ren so don't get all defensive on me lol

You didn't understand a thing I said.

I didn't say anything about user error or hating. Now it is getting borderline stupid in this thread to be honest. You buy a product (any product)...it has a defect/potential defect....then you return it for a refund, exchange, or repair. It doesn't matter if you have purchased 1000 products and never had an issue; it's not relevant to the subject at hand. Crying about it will not miraculously solve your issue. Writing another 3 pages here will not solve your issue. It makes you look silly not listening to solid advice. I am not trying to clown you but help you face reality....straight talk. Then you can get to making unhindered music.

Meta did a great job , did you read that?

I wasn't saying that you were doin those things, I was just expecting you to cause you often do.. And you just did! (Get all defensive)

Listen.. Multiple times in this thread you go "how come more people don't have the problem then?" Basically telling the dude you were talking to it was his fault. All I was trying to say is that maybe it's actually NOT the user, since many of the people experiencing this have never had the problem on any other music software.

Like always I'm just thinking critically jah! I work around this issue every time I make a beat with the ren , especially when sampling live bass. I still make music, but it's annoying to have to toggle my preferences every once in awhile.

No one is crying over here tho fam, you're the one who's got his panties in a bunch!

Your grasp of the obvious is lacking as usual. Any tech user with a brain and general knowledge of computers is going to realize he has to exhaust all the possibilities of what might be wrong on a software operational level before just assuming it's the hardware at fault.

You're not trying to clown anyone, fine. What you're doing is worse. People report a problem you're fortunate enough not to have, can offer no input on, and you choose calling them "suspect" as the best thing you can offer? And this is far from the first time you've put out this ridiculous "return it or you are 'suspect' ".

You throwing around "suspect" is borderline calling these users liars. It doesn't take a master's degree in psychology to see that you're completely off base usage of the word says more about your paranoid defense and fetishing of a brand name than those who report issues.

If you reply maybe I'll read it later for a laugh. But I already know you'll just repeat the return it or don't post nonsense, and try to project your troll BS on me, because I don't have a Ren and posted in a Ren thread.

I mean you're clearly heated that people sensibly want to explore a software conflict or driver issue over returning the whole piece for a new one. I'm sure they all have considered that if it is a software issue/conflict that they could return the unit 10 times and still have the issue.

So you guys are offended and getting defensive. Either something is wrong with the gear you own, you are just not technically savvy to solve the issue or both. There is no other way to see it. Call technical support (already suggested) or return it (already suggested). Crying about it or trying to bait me into a silly argument still doesn't solve your issue.

I had a similar problem one time when I was listening the sequence, so i restarted the mpc and everything worked :hmmm: perhaps it wasn't the same problem

Well out of past observations... Since Jah has backed himself into a corner again, with unnecessary sarcasism in his argument. I'd say this post will also be locked in the next cpl posts. And this topic will be thrown to the ashtray....

I pointed out the obvious. This thread is useless. No insight into the problem. Ren 'users' claiming they have issues yet won't help themselves by contacting technical support or exchanging the unit. The ones in a corner are the ones refusing to help themselves and staying on the losing side of what shouldn't even be a debate.

Jah my friend I'm gonna have to diagree with you on this one .I've returned my product recieved a new one and even call tech support many times .The main problem I have with their tech support they act like nothing is wrong with the software but when you come on here there are clearly some issues with their software .I've ever call Apple about my Mac 4 different times and took it 2 different computer techs they said nothing wrong with my computer its the software .To make it worst I waited6 weeks for an answer from Akai Engineering in which the software locked all my squences on 3 programs.

I think you have a problem counting Jah.
There are more members that have that problem.!

Hmmm, he'll need to be extra creative to come up with a nonsensical, attacking reply on that one...

I think it's clear more then 2 people are having this problem, and just imagine the amount of mpc users that dont come on this forum and report things. All I know is I have had this problem, I just found a workaround and never looked back. Just because someone isnt experiencing an issue doesnt mean it doesnt exist, we all have different setups whether its mac, windows ,etc. I think it sounds retarded suggesting someone return their Ren bc of a little bug that can be fixed. I would only return my Ren if the hardware was broken, if it's the software then I'll sit back and wait for Akai to fix it which it most likely is. Besides even if it was the hardware, I wouldnt bring it back to the store without being sure it was the hardware. Seems more like a software/OS issue so that would be stupid as hell. Especially when users have claimed returning their Ren for a new one has not fixed their issues. I dont understand whats suspect, plenty of people post problems here that I never had, doesnt mean they are suspect, they just have a different setup so they most likely have different problems. I think its ridiculous for an Akai employee to call US suspect, lmao.
