Logic will allow you to select one device as an input and another as an output.

You can Aggregate in Pro Tools. Mac only though....

True, if you are using the 'aggregate' functionality. However, you can't do this with all audio devices to include the Ren.

Without the 'aggregate' functionality you can't select two audio devices within Pro Tools or Logic's Audio Preferences.

My error. Logic and Live I can set different Input and Output devices even without using aggregate. I will play with them tonight to see how well they work. Pro Tools (without aggregate) will only allow one audio choice; Maschine does the same.

True, I've tried to make an aggregate device with the Ren and my Motu interface and the Ren is not even available to select as an aggregate device :/

I still think if this is being seen in both scenarios on the respective OS's it has to be rooted in the driver on Windows and the parts of the code that interact with Core Audio if you're on OS X.

I'd imagine if enough people can report the situations with details that happen on both the OS's Akai would not have too hard a time to pinpoint the cause and straighten it out pretty quick in a future update.

+1 makes sense

.....while it seems like a cool idea to be able to select an Input and Output device in the Ren's preferences, most DAWs won't allow you to have multiple audio interfaces selected in their Audio preferences. Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, etc allows you to select only one device in preferences.

personally i prefer just using one and always have. it was not until getting the ren did i run into a situation where i was using two....i used to use logic for years before v5 and after apple grabbed it up until the last version 8, havent looked in a awhile but i thought it allowed one for input and one for output... never used it that way anyway, so i wouldnt really remember....

First you post lies claiming the Ren's face plate is plastic when Tutor posted it is metal (because it is). You won't own up to this false information and now here trying to continue to bait people into a silly argument.

 Get a life homey....this anti-Ren obsession of yours is a bit too much. I almost feel bad enough to loan you a few dollars. If every forum member Pay Pal'd you $1 you can buy a Ren or at least a Studio this weekend.

This hasn't been my experience. I can hear the vintage modes just fine with only my other interface set as the input and output or do you mean something else?

He doesn't actually own/use a Ren which is why he doesn't know this.

konc3pt is referring to the "MPC3000 circuitry" part of the vintage mode that Akai was hyping for the Ren, which can only be heard through the output of the Ren's interface.

I own an MPC 3000 and a Ren. I don't care about any hype or marketing. But in actual use, the Ren's MPC 3000 Vintage Mode using the Ren's interface or a 3rd party interface is very accurate. So accurate, it's difficult to distinguish all of them apart.

In order to make this claim, you would have to actually acquire a Ren to see for yourself. Otherwise you are repeating something another non-user wrote or making stuff up out of boredom with your current MPC.

Get a Ren to beat those MPC-blues and join in the MPC Ren/Studio social network.

And in order to counter the claim you need more than "you don't have one, buy one one so you can be cool like me."

I saw you saying the other week "a schematic that was I don't what..." Funny everyone else knew exactly what it was. The actual schematic of the 3000 circuit path, as it was clearly presented. You're just delusional at times.

It's hard to believe you're actually a grown man.
