I've been noticing some small electric shocks from the back of my MPC recently. I thought at first it maybe the jacks I'm using as I noticed the first one when I was touching those, but just I had my hand resting at the back near the volume button whilst I pulled a lead out, as I pulled the lead out I felt another shock, but it was from the point my hand was resting, not the lead.
It's not a static shock, it feels like a very small electric shock. Still enough me make me shout "you **** bastard mpc" when it happens lol!
The lead I was messing with is plugged into my laptops line out. It's a phono lead, with two 1/4" jacks connected so it can go into the MP.
I'm to nervous to **** about any more behind the MPC incase it's a fault ground inside the MPC. I've turned it off now.
I did have the MPC open to swap some buttons around as my "mode" button was ****. I only took the casing off though.
Really not sure what's going on. Any input from others who've had similar issues?
Edit. I also have the output going into a Focusrite soundcard. I've just noticed the same shock when plugging an XLR into the Focusrite that's not connected to the MPC. I recall also feeling a shock when messing with the back of my Pioneer mixer that's hooked to some CDJ's ... also connected to the Focusrite. I wonder if there is some power coming from the Focusrite. I don't have any phantom power enabled on the Focusrite though.
I wonder if that's the cause of all these shocks.
