Does anyone ever do this?

I've got a bunch of synth keygroups that merge really well and make it convenient to edit a single program from the Zone and Edit fields...

For example - Keygroup A + B (both 21 samples spread over 61 keys) merge perfectly, with Keygroup B dropping into Zone 2. That's the desired result.

However, if I merge Keygroup A + C (with C having different note spacing and span) the whole thing gets merged into Zone 1. The playback is the same but I lose the ability to modulate the different Zones separately.

I'm having a senior moment here, but is there an easy way to get keygroups to merge whilst also splitting the samples into different Zones? Having tinkered with this earlier, I've come to the conclusion that all Zones aren't created equally. :(

I haven't tried this in some time but my intuition says that you might need the midi notes to line up vertically. I mean if they all have the same root note despite the key span? I don't know for sure.

I think what it boils down to is that Zone 1 is always the master Zone. For example, when Keygroup A and B are merged and B drops into Zone 2, the KG Mix and Pitch pages only show values for Keygroup A. So really Zones 2 to 4 are essentially just layers to Zone 1. I can appreciate the logic... I'm just seeing how far I can push the machine in various directions at the minute.

With 4 Keygroups stacked up and detuned, panned and filtered, the sonic mayhem is impressive! :-D

I should also add that I know you can stack up different Keygroups through MIDI. I just like how uncluttered it is to Merge them. Triggering multiple Merged Keygroups should take things from the sublime to the ridiculous though!

Then the samples would show up in the zones pages, thus we could tweak and modulate them using zones parameters in program matrix using qlinks or control changes. Zone start, zone filter and etc. Gotcha.
