Yeah I am with clint.

It's not hard to get a PCb replicated if you have the schematics... It's also very cheap.

You have done this and good for you.

What you are failing to do is provide an honestly priced service that will gain a buyers trust.

What price do you recommend me for the IB105 Mk2 + SD card reader?

I don't quite understand the way you are doing business

You really should have had all this planned out before you even mentioned money.

For me, the first thing to look at would be the sd drive... If this is an off the shelf drive it would be better to sell the upgrade and inform customers of the affordable compatable drives on the market.

I just think its a bit much to put a mark up on the sd drive if all you are doing is supplying them.

And that's business advice... Not me being rude

sort it out man. you are asking 380 for the whole kit. add another 300 for the s950 and you're looking at 680 euros.

its silly money for that kit. dont get this personal, its a nice addition to have and nice job for it really but i doubt youre getting sales for that price.

i can do without it at any time for the money and i think im not the only one. afterall the demand will determine the price

good luck

I agree totally with you , but schematics is not avalaible.

If schematics were avalaible , a lot of people would have done it since years.

Doing a replica of a PCB without schematics is not that "It's not hard ... PCB replicated" story.

It's the invert , it becomes very hard to get the PCB replicated because you have to reverse enginering the whole circuit concept.
Doing this with these IB105 & IB109 is a nightmare.

"Cheap" does mean nothing because it depends on a lot of factors :

- PCB size
- Number of layers
- Material
- + other more techincal factors

and what will have the more impact on the price , the :

- QUANTITY

If you order 10pcs , the price will be expensive.

Let's take an en example :

Your album is recorded , mixed , mastered. Cover design and all is done.
You order a quantity to a factory. You agree that some operations have a price that not depending on the quantity (glas master / cover ....)

Imagine all these operations cost : 200€.
* If you order 10pcs , the price of one CD will be expensive.
* If you order 1000pcs the price per CD will be less
The more quantity you order , less price per CD is.

So, for PCB , it's exactly the same.
If you order 1000pcs the price will be cheap but is it possible to sale 1000pcs?

Add all electronic parts + those hard to find (price)
Add metal work (face plate + PCB holder)
Add Ribbon cables
Add worldwide shipping for each order

Understanding (or not) all these factors bring us to the different points of view concerning the price.

A group buy can be a solution to lower the price.

I have actually looked into PCb production and no matter how long you make that list, it is still cheap, and you are clearly not going to all this effort to get them printed in 10's

In the volume you are likely to be going for and for a double sided PCb its very cheap.

Anyway... I still want an answer to my question about sd drives, the card price is not far off what it should be

It's not looking good is it?

I think you need to concentrate on getting your prices and ethics set straight and put what is still a fantastic product out there before you destroy your reputation.

I don't know your background but you are new to the forum so you should know that in this game/community reputation is everything.

Get your prices set
Get your ethics sorted
Market and price your product in a way that gains trust and ensures satisfaction

Beatdiggerjazzcat wrote:you are clearly not going to all this effort to get them printed in 10's

This proves that you don't know what you speak about when you tell "printed in 10's".

PCB production factories needs "GERBER (layers) and EXCELLON (for drills) Files".

Without these files , they can't produce anything because their industrials machines are Gerber machines.

1 x Gerber file per layer + dimension + solder mask for Solder side & components side. A board is around 6 or 7 different Gerber files and the drills file (Excellon).

I suggest you do a IB109 replica and sale it with 100€ price for all of us , please.

After making it, I think your opinion will change.

I have sold a tons of SCSI and Memory expansion boards for MPC60.

Same for Akai S950 Memory boards.

For my reputation , ask the ones who have my boards in their machine. Ask them about quality/price ratio compared to the price of original Akai boards.

Are you serious about printing?
