Beatwave looks like, you didn't identify the app, are you on a tab Danny?

Just joking man, Beatwave is pretty cool I got it when it was still a paid app in the iPad 1 days. I have the Tenori app too but never got deep enough into it, iPad gets a little heavy after a while the way you have hold it to use the app. I think the real thing would be more ergonomic to grip for long sessions.

I have a similar stand from Rocketfish. Round base though, makes it all look like a tiny iMac. It's great for video and some apps especially using a stylus, but some apps I find easier with a loose iPad or in the the Alesis dock.

Although even when you lock the iPad in the correct landscape orientation in the dock when you turn it back on it's upside down every single time. Then it's slide out of the pin connector unlock it, tilt the whole dock forward, lock it again.

Even out the box the connection to the pins takes up to five tries, or it's getting power but it takes up to five tries to have it actually pass the audio through the dock. The amount of unnecessary wear on the connectors this leads to drives me insane.

And it blocks all Sysex messages. Another annoying piece of gear from our friends at In Music. :Sigh:

Midi Controller Pro

....is free in the itunes store and I've made a nice template to control some triton extreme params. It took me like 2 minutes to understand how to create and assign params to knobs, sliders, faders, spin knobs, etc.

Anyone looking to create their own midi controller designs and functionally use them afterwards you can't get better than free right?! It reacts fast to finger movement also. Try it out maybe.

in turnado can you for example take an audio input for example and effect the signal?. I was going to get an io dock and love to know if I can take the output of the mpc and manipulate it turnado?

I think you would need Audiobus and an Audiobus external audio input capable app to sent a signal to Turnado.

Also Turnado is set up for portrait mode operation. If you try to put it in landscape mode it only shows the 4 X/Y controllers and nothing else. Annoying in the same way Propellerhead figure is set up.

I need to dig out an dock extension cable I have as a workaround for all these portrait aspect ratio apps with the Alesis. I'm afraid that Apple killed the cord's compatibility a half dozen iOS updates ago though.

I really need to get the spacer from Alesis. Trying to use a iPad 3 or 4 in the dock without the spacer is just asking to break your pins, the dock connector or both.

I was supposed to get one in the box, or a voucher for one, but in true In Music fashion I got neither. I have to pay $15 or $20 to get one... :WTF:

what do you mean killed cord capabilities?, is the io dock useless?

Apple when they update will look for ways to make 3rd party extension cables not work anymore, because they get mad you got a cable for $5-$15 instead of an Apple cable for $40. They are probably the most narrow minded, arrogant and childish company ever.

So the simple solution of just using an extension cable and leaving the iPad outside the I/O Dock may not work with any of the extension cables I have. After one iOS update my extension cable never worked again.

The I/O dock does usually take multiple tries to send the audio the 1/4" outs (like 4-10 tries yanking the dock connector in and out.) And blocks ALL Sysex messages entirely. Also while in the dock no video app will display video as it sends the video to a video out on the dock...which is a garbage, borderline useless RCA video out.

I looked at Turnado again, I think you can use it to process an external audio source without using audiobus.

$50 less, controls on the face rather than side, I/O all on the back...the Alesis has the controls and ports on the back, and both sides, making it take up way more space than you'd think to accommodate the cables jutting out.

Includes the spacer, (although the Alesis should too, but I didn't get one or the voucher...), has the phono ground which the Alesis doesn't...Knowing Behringer they probably reverse engineered an Alesis as far as they could without getting sued, so I bet Sysex is a no go on that one too.

Battery operation is another plus for the Behringer.

Only thing I'd look into, and it would take feedback from an owner of one, is the noise floor, Behringer mixers are notorious for high noise levels. The Alesis dock does well in that area and is actually really good as far as strength of signal, much better than using the 1/8" out or even 30 pin to audio cables.

I think for cheaper with the better I/O control layout it looks pretty good. Although portrait apps are still going to be weird having to turn your head or the dock sideways and the angle as well.

Behringer for the win! :-D

I have 2 iPads, I may just have to get the Behringer one and just leave the iPad 1 in the Alesis permanently. Thanks for getting me to look to look at iStudio more thoroughly.
