may buy the berhinger istudio, apparently works with ipad3 so fingers cross.
$50 less, controls on the face rather than side, I/O all on the back...the Alesis has the controls and ports on the back, and both sides, making it take up way more space than you'd think to accommodate the cables jutting out.
Includes the spacer, (although the Alesis should too, but I didn't get one or the voucher...), has the phono ground which the Alesis doesn't...Knowing Behringer they probably reverse engineered an Alesis as far as they could without getting sued, so I bet Sysex is a no go on that one too.
Battery operation is another plus for the Behringer.
Only thing I'd look into, and it would take feedback from an owner of one, is the noise floor, Behringer mixers are notorious for high noise levels. The Alesis dock does well in that area and is actually really good as far as strength of signal, much better than using the 1/8" out or even 30 pin to audio cables.
I think for cheaper with the better I/O control layout it looks pretty good. Although portrait apps are still going to be weird having to turn your head or the dock sideways and the angle as well.
