New 64 bit Pro Tools eliminated RTAS plugins (32 bit). And I think I recall reading the new Logic doing the same.

Obviously these are all different products, from different companies whose feature sets will never be identical.
As far as installation...plugins are normally installed in a dedicated VST folder on your hard drive. This is a no brainer on OSX. It should be similar in Windows using default installation options. If for some reason your plugins are not available in the MPC software, go into Preferences and ensure your VST folders which contains your plugins is listed in one of the 4 slots.
