My humblest apologies, cynic. Boy, the way you're lashing back, one would think that you and the Fruity Loops people are buddy and friend. You're talking like you're the software production police or something. Don't take it personal, Officer cynic. All I offered was my opinion, not a judgment.
not lashing out, and no i'm not connected....sorry bad day at the office
the way i read it it looked to me like you were saying computers were finicky and easily prone to break down, causing you to lose all your work.
The one thing that worries me about computer based operations such as FL, the BSOD. Once you get the BSOD, you usually have to reformat and reinstall all your applications and transfer all your backed up material (assuming you did do a backup of your tracks, samples, etc.).
Now I'm not saying that hardware is perfect, it can fail too, I fix failed hardware every day. But their failure probability is small compared to Windows' failures.
I doubt the FPC would truly rival an MPC, but it is another option to use for production.
that whole BlueScreenOfDeath comment is just way off base and has very little basis in technical reality. i've gotten many blue screens - mostly due to bad driver errors. not one has ever forced me to reformat a hard drive or anything that severe. if someone recommended you do that with a blue screen you're getting bad technical advice.
additionally, if you're anywhere near serious about your DAW you should have separate HD's for programs, samples, recording, and backup. this separates everything in the case of failure you don't lose everything. in my setup i have drives for each, then i backup each drive to a RAID-5 array so i don't lose ANYTHING!
personally, i use the mpc in conjunction with FL and many other programs, and i find it to work well together. not trying to promote one over the other, just saying that a lot of these anti-computer anti-software arguments have little to no basis in reality.
