well akai gets so caught up in the marketing that they overlook details in the actual product... it's like they gather together in a board room and come up with things they can say..... and then they spew it so hard they start believing their own BS to the point they wind up taking it too far and can't back track. Semantics is a huge characteristic of their marketing strategy, and I think sometimes it isn't laid out as such to the product reps so they fumble with false info. Now take all that and add on jah's gorilla tactics he uses to attempt at damage control on the forums..... and it makes it harder to say "it is what it is" like you normally would when you see right through any other company's marketing BS.

It's like an infomercial on TV, you just know when and why a product is trash or is flawed in the real world... but you just change the channel. But let's say it's some working out gym product... and you were a part of a working out forum... what do you think would happen if you see a forum member repping that said POS product harder than the manufacturer does trying to convince cats who are new in the game to buy the said product? That's what we had here...

that is what happens when shillish trolls are allowed to reign and rain on the truth parade....... :|

You remember incorrectly. There are dozens of open Vintage Mode topics on this forum, many of which discuss the rather shady nature of it. I believe there's only one topic that was locked (and not deleted). I also wrote and published an entire article about it.

I believe 99.9% of this forum are well aware of what happened with Vintage Mode, the search function works just fine, and clearly no 'shillish trolls' stopped anything. But we all love a conspiracy theory, eh?

i guess i was mistaken. MAY is a key disclaimer term......

i remember the one with the schematic layout, which is the one that got closed i believe.... maybe im wrong about that too?

i disagree about "shillish trolls" not disrupting and effectively ending truthful and relevant criticisms by all too well known characteristic behaviour.....

the thread referenced is but one instance...... not an anomaly.....

but we can engage any "conspiracy theory" youd like anytime tutor... :-D

im sure you have better things to do though.....

you may call me a troll, but i only shill for the truth and my own humor....... for better or for worse....... 8) :smoker:

i missed your article before now..... i must commend you for your conciseness on the issue... a little "kind" to akai from my perception of their intentions... but informative nonetheless........

If the glove fits you...it is what it is. 'Relevant criticisms' is just one of your tactics. I have been speaking to other Ren/Studio users via PM instead of the open forum lately. They are sick of the behavior here.

Noticed this on the new Akai website...
http://www.akaipro.com/product/mpcrenaissance#overview

They are still saying the Renaissance has MPC3000 identical analogue circuitry now, but have modified it to be output circuitry, rather than just circuitry as on the box.

Legendary MPC Sound

Designed in collaboration with producers and artists from around the world, MPC Renaissance maintains the beloved workflow and layout of classic MPCs. MPC Note Repeat, MPC Swing, classic transport controls and other traditional MPC functions are all included. MPC Renaissance houses decades of iconic production innovation. Its exclusive Vintage Mode and built-in audio interface give you instant access to MPCs of the past. Choose from MPC3000, MPC60, SP1200 Ring, and more. In addition, the analog output circuitry in MPC Renaissance is identical to the classic MPC3000.

i wish we could get some sort of official answer

at least an "im sorry"

The Vintage Mode marketing is pretty much like the 1k Pads, how JJ got the Code etc.
Things that are known and done.

The only new concern for Vintage Mode was freeing it up for the Studio users since it's not hardware related.

hasn't it been confirmed that each "vintage mode" effect was simply a different preset setting of the Ring Modulator plugin?? i remember seeing a pic with the settings for each plugin... can't you just use the ring mod plugin with those settings saved [after manually setting them] as presets instead as a workaround?

no, the sp12 ring mode (and only that one) is a preset of the "decimator" plugin

so the other vintage effects are separate plugins with just the vintage emulation function? not presets of another different VST effect?

correct - as far as i can tell at least

the other three (mpc60, 3000, and sp12) just show up as VSTs
but yea, akai should def SAY SOMETHING about this forced limitation placed on studio users
