Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

I think the biggest issue is the fact that even on the Ren, it is gimped so it only works across the main outs. It's a bunch of VSTs, you should use them like any other VST. Clearly the restriction was purely concocted to fit in with the 'Vintage Mode' button marketing idea. And that's what's so rotten about all this - people missing out unnecessarily just so they could create a 'cool' marketing angle for the product.

Given the hack came to light in 1.3, it would be nice to see this officially rolled out in 1.6.

However the quandary for them is that suddenly the Vintage Mode button has to officially become obsolete. It would not have any purpose at all, as you can just insert one (or more) of the Vintage VSTs across the master outs within the software itself. Marketing department's going to hate that.

As Hellfire has pointed out, the vintage mode plugins stop working with the controller disconnected.

I guess they might have to make them operate without the controller?

Maybe then they would be available to MPC Studio users as well?

Would make transfer of projects from a Renaissance system to a Studio system more complete as well, keeping the same vintage plugs/sound.

Yes, and the other thing, as I mentioned, is that the vintage mode hack made my systems (both mac and PC) pretty unstable when I had them in 1.4. Whether Akai specifically coded something to make them no longer work properly as inserts to protect the Ren, I don't know. All I know is that in 1.3, the hack worked good. Then on 1.4 I started having crashes and corrupted projects that all went away as soon as I removed the vintage mode inserts, even though I updated my VST folder with the new 1.4 vintage mode plugin files. I had a couple projects that would not let me save. I couldn't figure it for the longest. The when I removed the plugins from my tracks, my issues went away immediately. So I have stayed away from this hack since 1.4. And it sucks because it sounds so dope when you stack the different VM's differently on different tracks. Dan says they plan to officially support it. We'll see! Either way, Studio users shouldn't be exempt from the feature. Maschine Mikro users don't have gimped software! Neither should Studio users, especially for something as small as vintage mode!

By the way, I just tried the hack in 1.5. Still works the same. I will have to test system stability though over the next week! Only annoying thing is now the MPC60 mode shows up twice!

yo tutor.

regarding your article.....

tutor's article wrote:The confusion stems from the fact that the Ren has an audio interface that utilises the same analog circuitry design found in 1990’s samplers such as the MPC3000.

is this accurate, and if it is how so?

is it just the analog 1/4" output that is a "shared design" with the "classic samplers/mpcs"? :hmmm: :hmmm: :hmmm: :hmmm:

I hope what you fellows are saying is untrue. I do not desire to believe that AKAI would deceive the loyal consumers. They have too much respect for us for this to be true, besides it would be considered illegal no?

Yup, just the actual 1/4 outputs are taken from the 3000. Convertors are different, according to Akai!

Yup, just the actual 1/4 outputs are taken from the 3000. Convertors are different, according to Akai!

The audio signal goes through 4 opamps, and associated electronic components, after the DAC, before the output in the MPC3000, so I assume they are referring to that.

Would have to do a detailed side-by-side comparison to see how true the claims are.

Would be interesting to see that comparison include the EIE/EIE Pro, as it has been guessed that it is the same audio hardware.

Still, the DAC would have to play a large part in the sound of the MPC3000, along with the input/ADC circuitry, and how it is overdriven to give a certain sound when sampling by many users.

Maybe you could have another instance of the file in one of your plugins folder? I'm not getting double MPC60 mode.

Can somebody with a dam 3000 post a video and audio clips and just end this once and for all??? does anyone in this forum still have there 3000???

This is troubling if it is so, I do not want to believe that they would deceive on purpose.
Could there be another explanation? I would find this to be dishonest and disrespectful to the community of users if they knowingly deceived.

Perhaps I am the only bloke who feels as such, you all do not seem to be upset by this.

Not sure! I checked my VST folder! No duplicates in there! Weird!

Yeah man! They likely lied to protect Ren sales, or perhaps Dan and Andy just weren't properly informed on how the engineers actually made the product! Who really knows! I don't really care enough to let it bother me. But I will call bullshit when I see it!
