So you guys would rather use a 1/2.5k vs Ren

Can somone enlighten me here .. I thought the power of a multicore plugin system that host instant gigs of samples and vst's + color on pads, 16qlinks for instant editing, graphical feedback on large computer screen and conviniance of editing notes with a mouse + workflow improvements like step sequencing and never having to stop the sequencer when working would surly be vastly superior to a old 2.5 k with 128mb of ram ...

I mean ..really can someone explain this :hmmm:

I think the MPC500 is the only MPC that can play the sequencer at anytime. During editing, sampling, chopping etc.

JJOSXL is quite liberal about your sequencer going while recording (input thru and sample main out are available), while editing programs, and also while in trim mode (can fully adjust your parameters while listening in real-time to the sequence). So I'd say nope, it's not the only one, sir... unless I'm missing on some essential from the mighty 5hunno (which I'll cope, as soon as I'll find one in a random pawn-shops of Brussels at decent cheap-ass price :-) ) I think the basic are perfectly covered.

Mpc4000 can playback in any mode ..The Only time you have to stop the seq is when you edit events/grid in seq and when you load/save ... And when you jump between pattern and song mode (sadly),,,

Dunno I was/still am toying with getting a studio / ren at current price drops just for interfacing with the digital domain but I doupt the 4k will ever leave me (actually thinking Im better off running Adat in, recycle and VST host all sequenced from the 4k

.. And btw the 4k is also immune to cryptomite..

Ren can do this too! It's dope because you can trim or timestretch or whatever to a sample while the beat plays! 8)

Thats real important to my work flow. I love stretching a sample to a sequence and you feel like it locked together nicely, thats an uncanny feeling

All this price dropping got me tempted, but I have to see what Akai can muster up after NI drops MS2.0. I know something is coming. The price drop was a good move so they must be funding another project. What? I don't know, but I know 2014 is gonna be a good year for us beat crafters!

Honestly bro, for the most part the Ren works practically flawlessly at doing anything you can do in a hardware MPC (for the most part). It's more of the DAW related type of features where it needs improvement (plugin usage, mixer, multicore, etc). IMO, no hardware MPC really compares in the end!

The 4k has had the ability to do stuff like that forever you just have to set monitor to multi.
The problem with the 4k is certain heavy process functions ask you if you want to create a new sample or overwrite the sample.
You have to say overwrite for it to automatically place that sample into the program or multi without stopping.
For most functions it acts directly on the sample so it's only certain functions that you have to say overwrite on.

With the current prices of the Studio and Ren anyone with interest should have already jumped on them.

If you know where to look there are some unbelievable deals on them.

The list of shit you can't do in the Ren that you can do in a hardware MPC is extremely small compared to the list of shit the Ren can do that is impossible in a hardware MPC. Then there's the fact that any hardware MPC feature that the Ren can't do can be added. There aren't gonna be anymore features added to any hardware MPC, and many of the Ren features literally can't be added to any hardware MPC. And many of the biggest challenges Ren faces are also things a hardware MPC cannot accoplish (ie Global Mixer, Multicore, Virtual Outs, etc). And this part is not my opinion nor just in defense of the Ren, it's just a fact!
