I think Nsync, Aguilera and Britney Spears fans accounted for most of those sales more than Dre fans.

Which would explain the whole reason WHY he's on TRL and MTV soo much.... The art-form is a business, and if he generates a shitload of fans, no matter where they come from, then he's going to be marketed and used in any way possible to keep that ball rolling.
Does it really matter what kinds of people are buying his records?....over and over on this topic people have been saying, "Ohh dont get me wrong the man has talent.....BUT......." So basically most of us agree that he has the talent and the skills to be classified as a great artist.... so why WOULDN'T MTV use it to their advantage?!?! they're a business too

I aint say sh1t about him being a great artist. I'm saying he gets to reap benefits such as sales, media exposure, etc. on the strength of his hue that GREAT hiphop artists dont get. There's difference between someone saying he has talent and being a GREAT artist. And the way he gained those fans was through the immediate bandwagon MTV jumped on when he dropped "my name is.." it wasnt vice versa. If that was the case he wouldve had those fans since his first LP infinite. And if you read my previous posts you'd understand the correlation between what I was talking about in regards to those fans. Obviously you didnt you just got your panties in your ass cause someone is talking about Em but not in the put him on a pedestal, he's the best rapper ever manner that most of his stans do. He'll always do his numbers but for real hiphop heads the novelty of him being a whiteboy with some skills BEEN gone. Thats why he gets no play amongst us.

sorry but to me after reading this post, it seems as if you may be the one with his RocaWear panties inna bunch... i totally know where you coming from with the comments about Jimmy Iovine, and what actually has a chance to come out on that label, but besides that, you have failed to make a point that Em hasnt touched on himself in one of his songs, while lyrically flipping it hard (which to me is the point of emceeing, lyrics)... Em up until this new album, has been the only emcee to "sell out" and keep releasing consistantly better ish, most artists/groups consistancy steadily drops once achieving a little success ( lol, i could copy & paste a couple examples from the bottom of your post, but i think my point is made!) ... also, on the topic of "straight bullsh1t", mentioning that ridiculous Benzino/Source propaganda just shows how jaded your views are to begin with... too bad the Source cant take it back to the "essence"... and yes racism does in fact go both ways, moreso in hiphop, than in the recording industry(everyone knows that shiz is rampant with racism) , which are two completely different things... and by the way, Em is eating off the recording industry, not a "black artform" Em does him, noone else! and like you said, those from the "essence" aint gonna give him the respect as an emcee that he deserves anyway, so why shouldnt he cater to this mtv kid crowd with a couple wack tracks, and get paid? i think the wackest shit Em ever did was sign 50, its funny though, a lot of those from the "essence" front on Em but they all up on that 50Cent "house bred negro, industry" ish... its double standards, triple even, if you ask me... those from the "essence" never really buy most of the records anyway, nothing compared to what young white teens buy, and we know that none of them could ever be associated with the "essence" ... where were you in '92-'93 when EVERYBODY AND THEY MOMS was bumping the chronic? its not a new phenomenon... what demographic bought the most Pac albums? Biggie albums? Jay albums? hmmmmm..... its nothing new, yet these artists are all accepted and respected by both the "essence" and the industry, and Ems not???? whats the difference? is it skin color? hmmm.... is it the amount of units that Em has sold compared to others that are respected more by the "essence"? if thats the case sounds like HATE to me... the bottom line is, NO YOU AINT GOTTA FEEL EMINEM, but if you into some lyrical skills AT ALL, you gotta RESPECT him as an emcee...

PS... i dont think many of us "real hiphop heads" give an ish about any "novelties" whatsoever... **** a "novelty" of skin color! skills is skills...

delnegro wrote:Eminem is trash. Highly overated. People always say sh1t like he's different from everything out but he's the only one who gets a pass and doesnt have to make a club joint to get heavy rotation. There's mounds of mc's out there that have lyrics but most of them cant buy a deal. If you're a ni99a you gotta be on some carbon copy punchline sh1t, club banger sh1t, or some joint for the ladies sh1t. But then they wanna praise Em for his varied subject matter like all ni99as can rap about is money, clothes, hoes etc. Tell Jimmy Iovine to sign somebody and not force they hand to make that radio single and let them "do them". Even Dre tried to make the God Rakim "bring the guns out". Neverless none would sell as much as Em but we would get to see mc's who have more to rhyme about then what gets played on the radio. Plus most of Em's fans aren't even hiphop fans, he get's no play in the hood unless he featured on a joint w/ someone else. NOBODY I know owns an Eminem album.

I mightve went overboard as far as him being trash but everything else I wrote is valid. And I find it appalling for you to use that racism line in terms of Em. Thats some straight bullsh1t. Who benefits more from race in hiphop then Eminem?!!(read the above again) You cant be serious!! It's funny to me how you white boys get your panties in a bunch over Eminem. Like he's above being criticized or everybody GOTTA feel him. He's had some decent verses...renegade and dead wrong come to mind but other than that most ni99as that come from the essence(the streets) of which this hiphop thing started do NOT feel him like that..Read the Ghostface article in the Vibe he's one of these ni99as as well and one of the few who have the balls to say it. Most hated in the game? He's lucky these house bred negroes in the industry still allow him to eat off a black art form after those tapes were released I dont give a fuk how long ago they were( and I dont believe he was 16) he was still using a black artform to spewl racist comments ABOUT blacks. So fuk Eminem, you and the burbs, TRL crowd can have him. I got NAS, Wu, Black Moon, Beans, Jay, and plenty other CD's to listen too.

fobe, i feel that in a major way.

and, yea it seems to be because of skin color. imo.

and, yea if you recognize his skills as an EMCEE, you should respect him as being that. Em definately has skills. He showed me on his first and second album. I haven't bought anymore because i haven't been feeling them as much. But, I do see he knows what he's doing. Regardless if im feeling him or not.

First of all minorities only make up a SMALL percentage of the U.S. for the most part we're only in urban centers so when we did make up the majority of sales heads we're going gold-platinum tops and were happy even if hiphop didnt gain mainstream i.e white acceptance it would still be thriving, we would still be living it. You do the math! So that negates that argument. You think cause some white boys got on to hiphop in 92 and started contributing to the rise in sales means anything?! It don't mean nothing to those who been loved it and live it. You think Dre wouldnt still be somewhere cooking up? It was just be no MtV exposure which is how it was, aint stop us from living breathing hiphop aint stop me from taping mr.magic and red alert everyweekend, aint stop me from rocking shells, tagging, poppin', aint stop me from rocking spotbilts to 40 below timbs, YA'LL JUST WASNT ROCKING IT! And fuk the source propaganda the bottomline is he spewled racist comments using a BLACK ARTFORM, I dont why it's so hard for you white boys to say this...say it with me EM USES A BLACK ARTFORM(EVEN HE WILL TELL YOU HE DOES BLACK MUSIC!) it couldve came from Right On magazine truth is truth, thats the bottomline. And of course it wouldnt offend you like it offended me I dont expect it to. I wont even address the source taking it back to the essence I dont give a sh1t about that HipHop was here and goes beyond the source I know for yourself it mightve been YOUR SOURCE for hiphop but it was never mine. I been down with this since the fetal stages. And I never said those from the essence dont respect him I said we dont feel him like that. Personally I dont feel 50 but those in the essence who do not EVERYBODY does, can feel him more than Em, they relate to his struggle, where he from, and how he came out of it. And what?! Personally I dont give a sh1t about double standards in hiphop although I dont view it that way, if it is so what it's double standard when it comes to damn near EVERYTHING else in America in regards to black and white but you getting emotional over there being one in hiphop?! LOL...Why does Em still have to cater non-hiphop trl fans at this stage in the game? He'll still do numbers. And the funny thing is if Eminem wasnt on yet and was still just a straight up fan of hiphop he wouldnt even like the kinda "cheeseball"(his words not mine) singles like just lose it. No straight hiphop head can feel some sh1t like that. And your gonna tell me the "crazy whiteboy" with skills initially wasnt a novelty that helped him? First thing everybody said who heard "slim shady" was "yo, you haerd that new sh1t by that whiteboy, son is crazy!". This wasnt accidental look at the first lines in "my name is". Bottomline is Em will always get his props in Rolling Stone, VH1, MTV, etc. But when the people in the essence from which this hiphop thing was spawned talk about about the greats in our barbershops, bbq's, corners etc. his name wont come up.

and thats where you are wrong ^^^^^ skin color has nothing to do with it man. Its a black artform? you just shot yourself in the foot.

The essence of hiphop, the essence of music in general, is that it does not discriminate. Its a universal language, spoken by all and shared by all cultures, race, young, old.

Hiphop is the melting pot of music genres.......if anything this disproves your ignorance..........hiphop can be made from country music, classical music, soul, funk, folk, foriegn, and alot of it is from white folks.

Hiphop is a BLACK artform. Why does that hurt y'all so much to say? Others can contribute and be in involved but that does NOT mean it's not a black artform. Most of the trends, slang, innovations, fashion, were started by blacks. Latinos were involved but no one can deny the MAJORITY of things in regards to hiphop have been started by blacks. Yes hiphop can be made from many things but WHO took the initiative of taking these many things and making it something else?!! I can make some fried rice and egg rolls but that doesnt change the fact that Im a black man making CHINESE food. By saying it's black artform is not discriminating nobody said it's a black artform so whities stay away, you're not allowed in this. As soon as you guys hear Black you think we're on some "mine, mine, mine" sh1t and it aint like that all. But it is what it is and even Eminem said he does BLACK music...so selfishly I might add. And back to Eminem, songs like "just lose it" reminds me of sh1t like Skeelo "I wish I was", cheesy hippop songs like that weren't even on our radar in hip hop once upon a time. Hiphop's trendy now but I cant wait for the new trend so the ex-grungers, ex-boyband pop fans can find something else to d1ckride. aND THE WHOLE PEOPLE FROM THE ESSENCE DONT BUY MOST OF THEM RECORDS WAS REFUTED EASILY AND SIMPLY...BY NUMBERS.

yes, it is a black artform; but when you listen to music are you listening through your eyes?

you act like eminem is on some winey bullshit? but how do you know? just because you dont come from an "eminem background" doesnt mean its not valid or not hiphop.

just becuase a white boy doesnt come from "struggle" doesnt mean he cant feel your music.

everybody's struggle is differant. Who are you to judge what someone else has to say. Tolerate
