It does look like maybe a black Renaissance LE.

But what is the yellow lit 'button'(?) on the left of the image, are there any backlit buttons on the Renaissance that are in that orientation/distance compared to the pads?

At least a different coloured Renaissance would not take away any software development time from the current MPC Software/controllers.

Notice the "Blue" pad? The Ren doesn't currently have blue... Still not sure it has RGB LEDs

If it is another Ren, what happens to all the current users that have paid good money and been hanging on for over a year to be unpaid beta testers?...It's a great tool but would it end up on the shelf being a half finished product?

The Renaissance is a MIDI controller, if they released a new/different controller, you would expect that it would still work with the same MPC Software, which would still be developed and upgraded.

Wouldn't you feel just a little cheated if it was a new Ren being released so soon?....I don't know about you but I saved for ages to buy this thing, it's not as though it's small pocket change purchase.

Not really, that is what you are buying into when going software/controller, I think.

Have to wait and see what it actually is, maybe just a new LE colour scheme for the Renaissance, maybe a new controller that fits inbetween the Renaissance and the Studio, maybe something completely different like a standalone unit along the lines of an MPX8 combined with an MPC sequencer.

Is an RGB LED really any different to a tri-colour Red/Green/Orange LED, if that is what it currently uses?

Unless, I suppose, it currently uses a bi-colour Red/Green LED with orange obtained via a different voltage/current on the Red LED component?

Their hype has certainly got us all flustered, will know for sure in 2 weeks.

Sure, an RGB is more expensive than a RGO or a simple bi-colored one. For whatever reason Blue is more expensive to make and there are varying qualities of RGB as well. I've been part of helping build a BOM for a product before and you look for various ways to cut costs a few cents here and there. Not sure why we haven't seen any other colors yet. Orange can be created from Yellow and Red, so it could be a Yellow Red Green LED. This is all just speculation of course. I think it would be really cool if it was an RGB.

Also RGB allows you to make just about any color, vs. a limited set with other combinations. In additive color (which an LED is) RGB are the Primary colors which allow you to make secondary colors and so on. You can technically get about 200,000 colors from an RGB.

If they used an RGO in the Renaissance/Studio, to save costs over an RGB, couldn't they just replace the RGO with an RGB in a Renaissance LE to give blue instead of orange?

An RGB and an RGO both use a common anode or cathode, with separate connections for the tri-colour LED chips in the common package, don't they?
