I'm happy with it. Need some shit there but still can do some joints. I would choose it again over other companies' solutions.

Before Ren MPC1K and Maschine.
As I said I know it needs a lot of stuff in there. But I knew what I was buying and don't regret it. So I wouldn't return it. I use it on a daily basis and I am not Dilla but I manage to do the things I like for the mc's around me that need some instrumentals.
I am not saying that you have no reason of thinking the way you do, because you have, I know it is 2014 and there is more advanced stuff out there (as a 2014 sampler it seems to be 10 years old for example), but it suits me.

Voted no.

I've used FL studio before, and Trackers before that. Not saying that Ren is perfect at all, but I'm able to make as good beats as I made with FL studio. When (or should I say if) global mixer is added, I'm good!

So even though you guys clearly state and recognize the short comings you still voted No? So you guys are putting faith in the updates I see.

Well just understand it took them a year and a half to add a list edit, so how long will it take them to fix the mixer? add automation? multi core? You guys realize it may be another year and a half before the Ren can do fully what it advertises.

I wouldn't. It's useful to me. I sequence my other hardware synths, i like to control my vst inside the ren, it's my sampler, it's my drum machine.

If i replace the Ren with other gears i want good stuffs. A drum machine like i want (either tempest, or elektron analog rytm, or new Roland Aira TR) are going for twice the price of a Ren...

Voted Hell No!!!

Once full automation is implemented and a more capable mixer I'm good.
Include a proper sampler engine in there with solid looping capabilities and it's my dream machine.

(Until they build Ren XXL with 8 outs, 4 ins and apogee soundcard built in)

the Ren is not even in the same category as those products. I'm sure whatever simple things some people use the Ren for works... but for people who need the Ren to work like a flagship mpcs to it's fullest potential we got screwed out of our money. Hey if you're happy with it, and you get along fine with the bugs and the basic ass features then thats great, power to you! I don't think the Ren is really appealing to professional producers or aspiring for that matter.

you realize you voted no because you assume that these updates soon to arrive, I don't understand that logic seeing they take a year and a half to add step edit. How much u want to bet it will be at least a year before we see all that you mentioned, maybe longer, and maybe not even add those features for sure lol

By the way, if I could get a full refund for the Ren I could easily buy a 4000, an mv8800, or anything else for that matter, AND then some!!! So I don't think you guys understand whats available on the market, yet you are paying $1200 for the Ren in its current state with false promises of updates

Sure I understand. But I already knew that Ren was going to be like this when I bought it (that it would have bugs, and it would receive new features down the line). I also understand that developing a product ain't easy and fast, especially the economical state we're in.

I bought Ren just because I was bored to death with FL Studio. I needed something new that would inspire me to make music again. I already knew it would prolly take about a year to get used to the workflow, so I pretty much was fine being a "beta tester".

And as I've never used a MPC before, I don't have the burden of the "missing features" you guys are used to with your older MPC's. I really don't have much use for the event list editing for example.

But overall I'm not saying that I'm 100% happy with it, not at all... But I'm still keeping mines and we'll see if Akai can come up with fixes and features.

EDIT: And that bedroom producer BS... C'mon... :-D

Thats cool, I understand you are probably less critical of the Ren then I am, but I think your opinion would of been different if you had used certain other mpcs and hardware samplers/sequencers. Thats your opinion tho, all fair

Dude, you really have a bone to pick don't you?! Before you think I'm coming at you wrong, I am NOT about to defend the bullshit that Akai pulled with the Ren. I just find it quite pitiful for you to insult people that DON'T share your VERY STRONG OPINION.

I don't have or use a Ren/Studio, I have used it a few times (borrowed from a friend). I was able to accomplish a nice bit of work without too many issues. We all know for a FACT that the Ren needs some SERIOUS work and polish to keep up with some of the more innovated products, but damn, it's not completely useless. It's definitely not a magic pill for making soul-crushingly good tracks. No device is...

It's been said once and I'll say it again: It's NOT WHAT YOU USE, it's HOW YOU USE IT!

For the record, I can make a DOPE BEAT by beat-boxing into a 4-track...

Peace to the gods.
