I doubt they've nailed the 808 or 909, but some people would be over the moon if they have!

For those that are into this stuff, they will probably just hope they've created a useable snare and hi hats because the Volca is weak in those areas.

At $200. How much would a real 808 or 909 cost, at the moment?

Is it going to do both the 808 and 909 sounds, in the same box, in the same drum circuits?

I don't see the problem, if I don't like how it sounds, I won't buy it. If lots of people do buy it, at $200, and it brings in cashflow to Akai, and keeps Akai going, I don't see it is a bad thing.

The MPC market has to be limited, there are only so many people who are going to be interested in the MPCs, they can't survive as a company solely on the MPC, they have to develop and sell other gear as well.

We all know there is only a small handful, of people in the akai lab. I'm not really hating on the new toys. Just tired of then. Taking years to implement the smallest upgrades needed for the ren.

This is not software, I don't think that the same people who are developing MPC Software, who are software programmers, are working on this.

Yes, you are hating on Akai because they **** you over with the Renaissance, that is obvious.

I thought you said a long time ago, either here or on the Akai forums, that you had sold it anyway, because you hated it so much.

I just don't think that hate, directed at this analogue drum machine, is really justified.

i wanteed to trade it for a 4000 :-D :-D
i dig my ren very much so. i get very frustrated sometimes. but its still gets banged on daily. i have said many times i just want the smallest things that many of us, long time mpc users have spoke/bitched about. I'm truly not hating, the more accurate word is scolding. i **** when I'm disappointed. I don't want them to fail. and your point is very good. but I'm still disappointed. i personally want one of these so called Big deals to actually be a big deal. like the Ren being the beast it can. simon i don't feel **** over. just dissapointed with the lack of Rens further development.

Fix the **** ren. Make it perfect. The list of things that need to be done to that are huge ....STILL!

They keep wasting time on this ****. Straight consumer style. Pump out as much trash as a dumb American kid can buy.

you do realize that non dsp has esentially no OS to code? hence no programming resources need to allocate to it.
and that companies need revenues? and programmers cost money.

i have been called an akai hater in most discussion but i try to be objective and find this vitriol too much.

about the ren: there have been reviews, opinions, discussions and fÜck all on the ren.
if you bought a product and it doesn´t work as it should - sorry but it was your own decision. so many people on this forum warned against it.
you buy a product based on capabilities not promises.

i am sorry and not trying to add to your pain but its the simple truth.

I don't have any pain. I purchased this the first week it was in stores. Long before we realized it didn't hold up to the listings on the box. I didn't need to sit around and stack the piggy bank. Now my point is the time they spend creating these stupid midi controllers that have already been done. Should be focusing on software dev. Maybe like simple stuff that are 6 month beyond late! Like sound card drivers! Who the hell needs another midi controller. Keyboard or button pushing piece of ****. I'll tell you.. The kids of tomorrow. What you think is truth is really your unknowing opinion directed at someone you know nothing about. So pipe down. Do you have a ren. Or are you one of many in the ren forum barking nothing.

pipe down? barking nothing? i tried to talk to you in a most calm and civil way but seems you don´t know the meaning of the word.

you are operating on the opinion the box MPC software vst-809 sound inside it where it is plainly written it´s an analog drum box, not VA.

that alone discards any opinion you may have on it.

btw no matter if cars, computers or music gear. being an early adopter is the literary the stupidest thing one can do to oneself. buying products is not about whetere you can afford it or not but making clever and informed decisions,
i retract what i said. i am not sorry in the least.

"voll analog im gegensatz zu konkurrenz" meaning completely analog as opposed to the competition.

they are really taking jabs at roland with this.
honestly considering they didn´t even plug it in,
i would not be surprise if the box was empty at this point.

that is the akai i know.

They seem to be moving forward with MPC Software development, from what they have shown us.

I would prefer they take the time to get it right, rather than rush it through just to give us an update quickly, and then have us bitching about the bugs, or workflow issues, that it might have due to not taking their time to do it right.

I don't think they can win, there is so much residual hate from them going from hardware to software/controller with the MPC, and the underdeveloped state of the software when first released, not to mention the state they left the MPC1000/2500/5000 in, that whatever they do, there is going to be hate.

What if they do release a Renaissance mk2, how much bitching would there be from mk1 owners, that they have spent time on the mk2 instead of giving them what they want for mk1, how mk1 owners deserve a special price on the mk2, etc.?

the pipe down stetment is directed at your comment telling me how i should buy anything. or how i should feel.

your completely entitled to **** or direct your comment my way. just not tell me how i should be or how should use my loot.

and i agree with you really, don't want to argue or create hostility with you.
your point of creating these frivolous product for revenue sounds about right. but also like you said... for those of you that have been watching the Ren and not buying it.... perhaps if they focus on the Ren more and not these little keyboards with colors on them. you and many more might buy the damn thing instead of just waiting for it to improve. there for bringing in real money. 1000 compared to the 40 midi controller.

one the large, you are probably right about the ren aspect. but i think that ship has sailed. no way am i trusting that company really and obviously i am not the only one.

if i was in the market for a large mpc i would get a 4000, perfectly happy with the 1000 really. in my opinion ren is a marketing scheme designed by a comitee, not a work of passion or dedication.

i swear even that demo does not come close to the range or quality of the sounds the box is capable of.
the params are very select but the tonal range of the is astonishing.
the memory is vast and all the params are midi controllable.
onboard sequencer is dope aswell.
separate outs for snare kick and the rest is routed on the stereo out.

the box is not being produced so snatch one if you see it.
