Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Here's the thing...

When you buy digital gear you have to expect bugs and you have to accept it's inevitable obsolescence.

:smoker:

PS... I don't work in an entirely analog studio, most don't. All the same, I don't buy 1500$ midi controllers with lackluster sequencing software either.

The sequencing side of the software is solid, nothing lacklustre about it. The routing and mixer are wanting, but that's what DAWs are for.

I didn't fork over anything close to $1500 for it, but I work in a music shop so.... anyway, the ticket price was worth it for me to get away from staring at computer screens, scrolling, navigating folders etc.. I've been doing digital audio for more than a decade and I'm completely sick of mousing and squinting at the screen. I've used most major DAWs and I used to think my mpd26 and reaper combo was the best workflow I could get out of my computer... after purchasing the ren I'm never looking back. One unit, I can do 95% of my sequencing, composing, effects, arranging without ever looking at the screen, and that will be basically 100% once the global mixer and audio tracks are added.

My ren fandom might just be because I've only known 1.6, never dealt with the buggier initial releases. Whatever. I'm only getting started with this kit and I've already doubled my productivity. Probably should have gotten a hardware MPC years ago but I don't know if I'd dig it as much, the ren is a nice combo of digital flexibility and hands on, tactile control over audio.

Def same here...even with 1.0 till now, no real complaints...only the 32-bits version crashes an awful lot (maybe try it? Load up some vst's, even akai's own instruments) but I also never had an mpc prior to the ren, and I immediately understood it, felt it, even...and when researching before buying I decided to urge myself to try to everything via hardware (cuz of the same reason as you no more screen staring and the same reason I like "playing" my keys/chops instead of programing them...i loved the mpc way of working, in the past I always hear mpc beats saw sum mpc always impressed me and somewhat intimidated me, with this Renaissance, this was the moment, and don't get me,wrong never ever ever ever regretted that.. even bought a second hand mpc 5000 for a day, I thought it would be great for live, but I did regret that, didn't understood it, probably because I thought it would be the same as the ren, I could make chops record them, when I wanted to edit stuff I even took my mouse and found my self staring at a screen, that wasn't there... :WTF:  so I brought it back...so although hardware accessibility is super dope its also nice to have a mouse and screen at least with in reach for a nice (editing)overview...... For me personally in the 20 years of making music it was a game changer.....it brought the fun back, in the complex digitalized binairy coded software environment...there was simplicity logic and most of all fun....like analog fun, the fun I had as little kid playing with synths in music stores...the groove boxes then came pc's with mmedit, fasttrackers, cubase, cool edit pro,madtracker,reason1.0/6.0 protools ,the fun came back a bit with mpk49 combined with reason(with audio tracks) The renaissance topped it and literally a dream came true....but lost a bit of its color
and feel that they're able to stretch its potential software wise and making better\more use of the hardware connection (4 midi out/audio (track) connections its all there)

p.s pete, dan, feel Free To use stated above for Your next Pitch talk....

I remember using the 60 in 94 , you have work around , and that's what makes your sound . Be creative . That's whats wrong with this GENERATION . You want it handed to you .

i am old head , and do not agree with this .. the mpc 60 / mpc 3000 asr 10 / still last 20 or more years later .. and was made with the best parts available . not only that the design was beautifully made .. 25 years later we have the ren / studio SMDH

akai needs to stop making fast food gear

and make something that will last 25 years later

Learn the game, go to a SSL studio . And make some heat . When it comes to hip-hop this is not rocket science . We only play a select number of beat patterns .The Ren does the Job  As of you brothers doing E mussic , maybe you need more and I can understand that . Because your competition demands you to be equal or greater with technology. I didn't really start using the Ren until .1.6 . Also And I just started using plug in s Instrument . But I've been selling tracks since s . The 90$ Don't let the technology rule your world if you don'thave to ,let progression and swing control you days lol. Everyone told me don't let go of the 3000 please the 4000 and a SSL 4000 g
Equals heat . I let other people put the experience and art on most of the tracks I've done. From Rock to Rap .

I am old head too, I started with the MPC-3000 as far as MPC's go and loved it but I am a firm believer
In change and I embrace the Ren I also between my phone, ipad mini, and Mac mini I have 13 Daws
So what ever the Ren is lacking I just integrate it with another daw and keep my workflow, flowing to me that's what's most important get that idea you got in your head and keep on moving.
