Not entirely true.
The original Akai MPC60 sound library (and some others) contain pure MPC60 samples. The original purpose of the machine was for non-drummers to create drum tracks quickly with these disks, or create their own samples if they had the time and knowledge of how to. Back then studio time wasn't cheap, nor was hiring a drummer.
