You would still see the MPC sequences used and still be able to choose how many times and when they should play.
But you could also add real audio tracks on the song mode and they wouldn't be sequence-dependant. You can route and record there directly, and add VST effects to the audio track. You could also move them right and left with the mouse, add fade-in and fade-out, normalize, pitch-shift, time-stretch, etc.
You would also be able to convert a MPC sequence into one of these audio track and it would automatically freeze the MPC sequence (if you used VST it wouldn't use cpu anymore when frozen).
You get the idea ? Basically it's audio track but directly in the song mode, and not dependant of one MPC sequence but for the whole song. I don't even care if there are things we can't do with the controller in this mode.
For 1.9 they should go for a fully featured mastering window. I love the one in studio one. It converts every tracks in one stereo track and let you analyze, add effects here and there, correct audio issues and last but not least you can actually merge different songs one after the other into that mastering project so you can build an album easily and get it coherent. And then you can export the whole thing to soundcloud or as Wav files.
Then for 2.0 they release a new MPC controller with embedded Windows and a bigger screen, fully standalone :q

MPC has a history and workflow based on standalone unit that has been broken. Now we got something that use a computer, then let's use the actual computer power. Otherwise it's always going to be stuck in the past and the whole move was unnecessary.
And the software should be self-sufficient, you should never ever need to plug your DAW into another DAW to get the things to work. This is the worst thing ever.
If i get your logic, i don't even need the MPC R since i got other DAWs ? I can sequence and sample already. Come on.
It's all about going for a true fully featured MPC DAW that will not be ashamed in comparison with ableton and other competitors.

MiniDX wrote:yes you are a minority, and you lack ambitions. What do you think was the idea when they created the MPC Software ? They're going toward a full daw, step by step. And this is not dreamland, this is happening.
A lot of people are using the MPC Software standalone and going to a daw only for audio tracks and mastering. This is a request that has been asked massively for months now. I only went further because of recent massive progress from last update.

A lot of this is overkill and unrealistic and in my opinon not needed you just cited Cubase and Studio One as examples. you couldn't use thoses ?. there are dozens of DAWs on the market that are able to do all this far better.
no mastering window, leave the mastering to someone that knows what the are doing
that is a science in itself.
The MPC has a unquie history and work flow, lets feed off that first try and
get it to be the bestever not a half assed DAW and all the problems that go along
with that. Sorry if i'm having a pop but please be realistic unless you prepared to
support these fancy ideas financially.
I think that too much daw Features would kill the mpc concept and workflow.
Mpc software should stay expert in creating midi based music.
At least it should have everything on board that is needed on the creative part.
Mastering and vocal-edit, recording, mixing is the DAW Part.
That s where a daw is the expert, no mpc buisness...

What I am referring to is that if you use some plug-ins, especially things like good third-party compressors, limiters, etc the sound or track you put the plug-in on will be delayed compared to how it hits right now. So if you put one of these effects on a snare your snare will be delayed compared to the rest of the sounds. While this can be corrected by shifting the sound or track with the plug-in earlier in the mix, it is time consuming and not realistic when some of the sounds start at 1/1/000. Not having this feature makes using things like a lot of the UAD plug-ins difficult.
Luckily most plug-ins report the amount of ms delay they add to the OS, so a program can sync things back up automatically. They also make it so that if you record a new track or sound to a sequence that has delay compensation on it already it will shift what you recorded the right amount so that it is completely aligned with the sequence you were listening to while you recorded. In other words if what you were listening to from the MPC while you recorded was delayed by 40 milliseconds, it then puts what you recorded 40 milliseconds later. Then when things are bounced down to disk it starts things off at the beginning as it doesn't need to delay when doing a bounce.
