Hi everyone,
I've lost half of the afternoon trying to do a data wheel mod. So here is a topic to make yall lose your time as well
Joke aside and to make a long story short, I was about to throw an old cassette deck and thought that its double knob might fit inside the MPC.
Here are the results :
The first one was really unusable because of its height and it was too slick. The second one was not so bad but only usable in a limited range. Due to its small smize spinning is almost impossible. TAP TEMPO button for larger increments almost impossible to press at the same time. If there was a kind of data wheel like this, clickable for larger increments it would be perfect.
If someone want more details or pictures of the different steps I can post them. Anyway we all know that the encoder is the weak point. Any hope one day to get a dope data wheel like these in the AKAI DPS series?
I can't say that I'm unhappy with the stock one but thinking about mods is a good way to persuade me that the 1K is not already dead
