that chord trick always sounds dodgy. not just because of the sample changing speed - in traditional harmonic music theory, as you build chords based around a key or scale, the chords change depending on what degree of the scale you are building the chord on.
eg, if your track is in the key of C Major, the chords for each degree of the scale are:
C Major, D Minor, E minor, F major, G major, A minor, B half-diminished
^ all of those triads are made with natural notes in the C major scale, if you simply transpose a major or minor chord statically using 16 levels, you're actually including a lot of notes outside of your key.
Not that using that 16 levels tuning trick on a chord sample is a bad thing, it's just different, which is why chord/scale modes would be a great addition.
